John Continues His 15 Year Streak: Of Steady Lying — On Gun Deaths, In America…

Here are the uncontroverted facts from JAMA, first [before we even mention / dissect John’s latest distortions]. I think it important to set the record straight even before John has his brief moment to “spin / glossify” — them, i.e., polish the turd… up:

Whopper-LIes-On-Global-Gun-Death-2016

World-wide — top six’s gun death tolls (for 2016): Brazil saw 43,200, the US 37,200, Mexico 15,400, Colombia 13,300, Venezuela 12,800, and Guatemala 5,090, the JAMA study found.

To get granular… above, to the right, I’ve adapted a Vox graphic — to illustrate. The left primarily blue bar is the world’s population by percentages; the right bars expand the small band at the top of the left bar. The center column shows that just two countries (home to less than three per cent of the world’s population) account for more than one third of all gun deaths on the planet (a ten-fold disproportionality — Brazil is an “easy on guns” geography, too. Imagine that!). More broadly, just six countries, with just about 10 per cent of the world’s population account for half of all gun deaths (five-fold disproportionality).

Simply put, John distorts by (i) only counting mass shootings, but one woman killed by an intimate, in a “domestic” — is every bit as dead as each Parkland victim; and (ii) he spreads the incidents across the big US population to distort the actual effect of our gun craze here, since Brazil is far less populated than the US, it looks MUCH worse (more dangerous) — by orders of magnitude. So, John claims the USA’s frequency rate ranks 56th in his “special” world rankings — of mass shootings. I don’t imagine that helped ease the anguish of the families in Colorado last week, or the devout in the synagogue in San Diego, last month… very much.

At all.

Disgusting … liar.

Whopper-Gun-2012-300x192 John Hinderaker has been telling one version or another of these NRA lies since at least the year 2004.

He will answer to his maker (whatever that looks like, in his world-view), and if Karma takes sway — to the innocent souls of Parkland, MGM Grand Las Vegas, Sandy Hook, the Pulse nightclub, Mother Emmanuel, and Columbine (and dozens of others)…. at the gates, for it all. If there is any Karmic justice at all left in the Universe, that is… he will have to explain his lying — lying that over 15 years, has clearly cost human lives.

By His Own Admission, “John’s So Old…” Hilarious!

WhopperLie-Hinderaker-06-16-2017 Well… tonight, in complaining about one senior member of the academic elite (Angela Davis), who is herself offering much-needed and righteous moral support to a much younger elected Congresswoman of color, Rep. Omar (whom the current purported head of state has directly and illicitly threatened), John says this (BTW, I won’t dwell on the fact that John is still just… butt-hurt about Dr. Davis, almost a half century later):

“…I am so old, I can remember when politicians kept their distance from murderers and Communists. But those days are long gone; in the Democratic Party, at least….”

And all I’ll say in reply is that… I myself am so old, I can remember when real Republicans (i) didn’t countenance using the elected public office for personal graft (it was once thought immoral — but no longer), (ii) frowned upon multiple felonious sexual assaults — by their now chosen leader (while cheating on his third wife while she was Whopperline-Hinderaker-2019-Brain-Small home with their then-newborn), (iii) discouraged the trampling of personal liberties guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, (iv) didn’t cheer people who cut up journalists with bone saws; (v) didn’t much like multi-trillion dollar deficits (and $2 trillion public works projects)… but most of all (vi) hated (would not be seen in the same room with) a wanna-be fascist who continually panders to Russian oligarchs, endangering National Security. [But those days are gone, in the Republican Party, it is now painfully clear. This current party bears no resemblance to the party of Lincoln, or even Reagan.]

And hey, John — all of that was (checks notes…) yep, just revealed in the last two years — not a half century ago.

And we are not talking about some academic who is… at best, one of many rightly supporting someone else — no, this is your (temporary head of party); your false-flag / coronated… preznit.

Out.

Just As He Did 15 Years Ago…

Whopper-Columbine-2013-228x300 This afternoon — on Easter 2019 — John has once again taken ugly liberties — in speculating about an awful terrorist attack — before we have any real reliable information.

Almost exactly 15 years ago [April 2004], he immediately labeled a gun wielding terrorist on a Bulgarian bus as a “Muslim“. In under a few days, the surveillance video revealed that bus shooter to be… yup, a white guy. A “Christian.” John never apologized. In fact, he never even acknowledged his truly malevolent mistake. [He also held very dubious theories, on Columbine, at the time (imaged at right). It is a profoundly sad 20th anniversary of that event, today.]

Today, he slightly more plausibly [but still irresponsibly, in my view] speculates that the over 200 dead in Sri Lanka died at the hands of “Islamic terrorists“.

He may turn out to be right — but no official accounting yet supports this view. In fact, most governmental intel thus far released suggests the persons responsible are “mysteries — yet to be solved.” It is equally possible, at this point — that the Tamil Tigers are behind it — a group composed of Christians, Hindus AND Muslims. We just don’t know yet. And sadly, the article John links to — as his news source — openly suggests it might be the Tamil Tigers. [John omits all mention of the Hindus and Christians.]

Whopperline-Islam-Slander-2019No, John — for his part, in a post ironically replete with a picture of the inside of his own “Christian” protestant church [at left], as he sat in it, on this Easter morning — decides it is… solely Islamic terror.

[Just like his opinions on black Americans, from the past week — his bias is once again… on copious display. He feels the term “darky”; and glamorizing slavery — shouldn’t be disqualifying — for Bess Smith’s continued adulation, in Philly. Ahem. Her statue was removed this morning.]

John’s now on front street. That is all. He holds odious biases — and they in turn increasingly infect his… ability to reason.

As I’ve said for a solid 15 or more years. He is a sad… bitter case.

John Is Suddenly Not So Sure Trump Is “In The Clear.” Hilarious!

Whopperline-Hinderaker-Manafort-Insanity-2018 As we repeatedly predicted he would, he is already walking back his “Trump exonerated” lies.

Actually — and strictly speaking — they weren’t lies per se, because John could not have by then read the report — back when he said those nutty things. He relied on the lying Bill Barr.

And now we know just how feckless both John and Bill… are.

But let’s get to it; Hinderaker says:

“…If Trump had really wanted to obstruct the investigation, he could simply have terminated it…. the administration fully cooperated with the investigation in every way….”

Um. Remind me, here John — did Trump ever give that promised one-on-one live interview with Mr. Mueller or his team? Nope — he stalled for over a year, while he found plenty of “presidenting availability” for for over 100… golf dates.

So… clearly, that is not “fully cooperating.” Liar.

Even so, John goes on to admit this:

“…Mueller described ten actions by President Trump that could be construed as attempts to obstruct the investigation….”

That’s John’s… opening walkback — more certainly will come — as the House Judiciary Committee gets the less redacted version, and moves forward…. Ten. TEN. John — that is not “in the clear.” [The victim had at least ten separate stab-wounds, but the knife-wielding perp… is in the clear, John?]

Whopperline-Hinderaker-2019-Brain-Small John then goes immediately forward to conclude, preposterously — and wrongly — that Mr. Barr, as AG, gets to decide whether to prosecute — on those ten obstruction counts. John sniffs that “Barr has already determined, in his role as AG, that there was no obstruction….” Precious. Simply precious.

Barr is speaking solely as a private citizen, there — and offering his personal opinions, here, this morning. Partisan opinions.

Barr has no legitimate role, from now on, in deciding whether the Congress moves to pursue Trump [and Barr, as well, now for John Mitchell style interference].

And Hinderaker well knows it.

So we may read his as more hopes, and prayers — as he whistles past the graveyard… than any lawyer’s reasoned view.

But we are unsurprised. John is a partisan hack, exclusively, now.

Onward. Let the able House Speaker do her job — and do it well.

It Seems “Tiny Brain” John Is Running… Amok.

Whopperline-Hinderaker-2019-Brain-Small Tonight, John — with his own spin on a preposterously non-credible interview (by someone else) with Mr. Dowd (formerly a Trump lawyer) — amplifies a simply 100% bat guano theory, about Trump’s persona, thus:

“…Hypothesis: Trump adopts the persona of a vain and boastful man who overestimates his own abilities, because it is the surest way to cause his opponents to underestimate him….”

I. Can’t. Even.

Name one thing he’s actually achieved using this “meta” / two persona “strategy”… I mean other than engendering universal global scorn.

A more Sir William Of Occam take would be… Trump is, in fact, that incompetent, vain, impotent, demented, boastful man-child we all see — on parade, every day.

Of course Dowd won’t say it, because Trump (likely) still hadn’t paid all of Dowd’s legal fees. And Mr. Hinderaker lacks the courage to observe that his faux-emperor… wears no clothes.

In any event….

Nice tiny brain-pan you got there, Johnny!

[U 03.29.19] Hinderaker Will Find This “Trump Wins!” REALLY Doesn’t Age Well…

Whopperline-Hinderaker-2019-Brain-Small Once again, I am marking it here, for the record — as in the coming days and weeks, we are all but certain to read at least a redacted version of the full Mueller report.

But John tonight (feverishly) relies on the two sentences in a four page letter — one generated after just 48 hours of review, from two lawyers (one of whom Trump picked precisely because of his expansive views of executive authority) who — despite Mueller’s team taking two years, interviewing 500 witnesses (but NOT Donald Trump), reviewing thousands of documents — tens of thousands of emails, and listening to many hours of recorded phone calls… chose to NOT exonerate Mr. Trump on obstruction. This, almost to the letter, is how Leon Jaworski handled his report — about Watergate. Eventually, Nixon left pretty quietly. [UPDATED: 03.29.19 — I expect much the same here — now that we will read large chunks of the report by April 15, 2019.]

Mr. Mueller plainly handed the ultimate decision of whether Mr. Trump criminally obstructed justice — to the Congress (in the few matters he was tasked with investigating). But John and Matt Drudge both declare a victory.

That view is wildly premature (though not surprisingly, Trump’s uttered the same nonsense, tonight by tweet).

I think Mr. Hinderaker will regret this post — when any one of the six OTHER criminal inquiries (SD NY; D for DC; ED VA — and New York state level) are complete — and when the Congress (as the founders contemplated) privately reviews the full Mueller report, without redactions — and comes to its own decisions — about whether to impeach.

But John’s post history is literally littered waist deep in what turned out to be — in many cases, within only a few days’ time — completely wrong early (but rabidly partisan) takes.

No shock there.

Onward.

In Which Hinderaker Writes More “White-Washing” Nonsense. Lots More. YAWN.

Powerline-Fred-Korematsu-1944-20 I only post here occasionally now… though truth is — there is no shortage of stupid, ill-considered, and just palin hateful material to choose from — when it comes to critiquing John Hinderaker’s posts at Powerline Blog.

But I’ve decided that I won’t devote more than a half-hour every few weeks to covering him… as he’s rapidly fading into… irrelevancy. [We know this because he can’t even get the Tangerine Mussolini to “holla’ back” @ him, by tweet (grin…).]

So — even though he wrote execrable, inane takes on (i) Christchurch, New Zealand, and Trump’s mention in the manifesto — and then he wrote (ii) a (hopefully self-mocking) fictional piece about how Trump’s pro gun policies are saving lives (let’s look at Las Vegas — 54 dead)… (iii) then a baseless, hypocritical piece blaming Black Lives Matters for crime rates — during a period before it even existed as an organization, then (iv) attacks on Rep. Omar (while staying silent as the tomb on Rep. Steve King’s overt racism)… Nope, I’ll choose (v) this one… to mention, in more detail here. He wrote willfully foolish shite overnight (since he needs to decry as fictional… the all too obvious white-supremacist vibe that literally oozes… all over, and under, his site) about Stuyvesant High School admission test results disparities, in NYC, thus:

“…Why is there no such concept as Asian Supremacy, given that Asian-American incomes substantially outpace white incomes?…”

The actual NYT story (noting that at least a few African American kids have been admitted) is really about getting more kids of color admitted to Stuyvesant High School (the prestigious magnet school in NYC) — and John notes that 70 plus percent of the student body at Stuyvesant High School is presently… (broadly speaking) Asian American.

Uh-huh. So, he doesn’t consider Asian Americans to be “of color“. At all. That’s point one (he’s lost in denial — it ain’t just a river in Egypt). Point two: last I checked, whites (for the “crime” of being white) weren’t rounded up by the hundreds of thousands and put in prison camps in California, Washington, and New Mexico — as was official US policy — during WW II. Thus my graphic, above. [Kinda’ hard to argue “supremacists” existed there, Johnnie. Other than white ones, of course.]

whopperline-hinderaker-race-trope-2016 And… point three — which actually ends the discussion is… not even John believes his own bullshit anymore — so he posts (what I am sure he intends to be self-mocking) ironic pieces, as a means of atoning for his thousands of prior racist works, during the 2003 to 2019 period.

Of course, we know that John well knows that test scores are not even a remotely good proxy for intelligence and potential: they are only a smallish measure of one very specific (but quite teachable) skill: preparing canned answers which fit a world-view — one world-view that not everyone shares, even in America.

So I say… “Good on you, John!” — you’ve found a sense of self. Try to hold on to it.

[I would mention a point four — that apparently a whole raft of privileged white kids seem to have been blessed (cursed) with “snow-plow” parents willing to bribe people, and hire other people to go take these tests for them — but that would be… churlish. Even so, John’s take on (vi) the Varsity Blues indictments was… as ever — tone deaf. Is this actually how John was admitted to Dartmouth? What about his kids? Yep, we wonder.]

Onward.

This… Is… Odious, Paradigm-Classic Hinderaker…

Whopper-Paul-John-Charlottesville-2017 Overnight, John bitterly complains… that The New York Times apparently mentions Emmett Till’s lynching (wait for it!) too-often.

This, John (the uber-genius that he is!) says reflects media’s leftward biases: “which is a pretty brilliant analysis of how the press operates, and why it influences us even when we are aware of its profound bias….”

Huh. I guess I missed that memo. I guess I wasn’t aware that this is a partisan issue: Republicans think lynchings are… a good thing(?). And… that only Democrats would call out the gang murder of a 14 year old boy for no reason at all — even if it was a half century ago(?).

John suggests that since the NYT and WaPo rarely mentioned the Till lynching before the late 1990s… (due to fear of stirring things up, in all likelihood — and clearly wrong…) that “making it right, here” decades later in time — as Exhibit A, for why lynching is a bad thing… reflects some illogical left-ward bias.

Whopperline-John-Cole-Cartoon-Trump-2016 I primarily note John’s illogical, incoherent  lunacy here — because it actually provides a window into how he, and like minded others, view racial lynchings. John wants to ignore them — write them out of class-room curricula.

John feels we should forget the ugly past, when black people were (mostly for no reason at all) publicly lynched from Minnesota, to Mississippi — from Oregon to Washington, DC. He so wants to forget it, because he knows his forebears’ (and his) hands drip… drip… drip, with the victims’ blood, still.

Emmett Till. Say his name.

Leaving This Link Here… For Pure Tragi-Comic Effect…

Whopperline-Hinderaker-Manafort-Insanity-2018 Today, John Hinderaker sniffs, and tells the world what… Bob Mueller “must have found“.

H i l a r i o u s.

“…Mueller’s central conclusion – the only one that most people care about – must be that there is no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russians to influence the 2016 presidential race….”

Funny thing. I wasn’t aware that John purchased Dr. Emmett Brown’s 1984 DeLorean (with the retro fitted flux capacitor, and Mr. Fusion® power-plant).

I’ll link it, and offer the quote (above) so that when he is proved disastrously wrong (as he was, about Romney in 2012, and Bush 43, in 2006)… we may all laugh at his considerable (and repeated) expense. [In passing, note that he disingenuously also mis-frames the truly important question, as well — “Did Trump commit high crimes and misdemeanors”? We will see that he did.]

Trump is almost certainly guilty of crimes far beyond collusion. Collusion has long been a question that need not be resolved in order to find him guilty of crimes — and impeachable.

Think lying to federal agents (in his written responses to Mr. Mueller); conspiracy to defraud the US, bank fraud; money laundering; campaign finance violations; tax fraud; charity self-dealings; employing known career criminals (example: Alex Acosta, his Sec. of Labor)… and on and on. And there will be a conclusion of some sort, that he lied about secret dealings with Russian government affiliated agents, to soften the 2016 GOP convention platforms — regarding Russia. These are my predictions.

But I will offer them with the genuine humility I feel — by calling them what they are: guesses.

In contrast, John lays his out as… “Back to the Future” facts. Sad, really….

Whopperline-Jr-Poodle-Hinderaker-2017 So, in sum, this time — John is not just wrong about who would win an election cycle. This time, it is all about a career criminal at 1600 Pennsylvania, known to John to be a crook as he entered the Oval Office — and John’s wilful enabling of felonious assaults on our experiment in order liberty (all to get the crumbs of favors, from 45’s table).

His shame will be so far reaching that I’ll likely not be able to muster even a chuckle, on the day Trump resigns in disgrace.

But his “Trumpian lap poodle” act will have forever defined him — as a craven, approval seeking radical right wing (racialists’) coward — in history’s longer lenses.

See ya’, John.

Onward.
