Well… tonight, in complaining about one senior member of the academic elite (Angela Davis), who is herself offering much-needed and righteous moral support to a much younger elected Congresswoman of color, Rep. Omar (whom the current purported head of state has directly and illicitly threatened), John says this (BTW, I won’t dwell on the fact that John is still just… butt-hurt about Dr. Davis, almost a half century later):
“…I am so old, I can remember when politicians kept their distance from murderers and Communists. But those days are long gone; in the Democratic Party, at least….”
And all I’ll say in reply is that… I myself am so old, I can remember when real Republicans (i) didn’t countenance using the elected public office for personal graft (it was once thought immoral — but no longer), (ii) frowned upon multiple felonious sexual assaults — by their now chosen leader (while cheating on his third wife while she was
home with their then-newborn), (iii) discouraged the trampling of personal liberties guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, (iv) didn’t cheer people who cut up journalists with bone saws; (v) didn’t much like multi-trillion dollar deficits (and $2 trillion public works projects)… but most of all (vi) hated (would not be seen in the same room with) a wanna-be fascist who continually panders to Russian oligarchs, endangering National Security. [But those days are gone, in the Republican Party, it is now painfully clear. This current party bears no resemblance to the party of Lincoln, or even Reagan.]
And hey, John — all of that was (checks notes…) yep, just revealed in the last two years — not a half century ago.
And we are not talking about some academic who is… at best, one of many rightly supporting someone else — no, this is your (temporary head of party); your false-flag / coronated… preznit.
Out.
