Ahem. I personally read each of the “stories” John Hinderaker today claims the site never published. I read them in real time, on Powerline — and at several prior iterations of this critique site, I’d set out refutations of the Powerliners’ lies.
I’ll gladly go dredge those up, if John persists in his prevarications.
But I won’t have to.
Google kept the receipts. As did “The WayBackMachine.org” — an independent archive of those lies (and hundreds of others). [He also preposterously claims that the boys receive… “no funding”. The IRS 990s say otherwise, John. As does CPAC, for the years 2015-2019.]
I guess, at bottom, old Johnnie is just butt-sore that the world is on to him — and in the main, the world has passed Powerline (and him) on by.
The Merck collab / deal space is poppin’ this morning. The ~$11 billion Prometheus acquisition has cleared the Hart-Scott antitrust pre-merger notification waiting period, in the US. . . so it may close before the end of Q2 2023. That is clearly the more market moving news, but also of note. . . is this modified RNA focused start-up’s $300 million payday, from Mother Merck.
And so, as imaged in lower left of the graphic at right, last year, we reported on the up to $3.5 billion milestones deal Merck signed with ORNA Therapeutics. And previously-teeny-tiny ReNAgade has been working in a quiet joint venture deal, with ORNA — since last winter. [Plus, since then, ORNA itself has also signed similarly-sized deals with Pfizer (in unrelated arenas), among others.] So it is fair to say that this three way “Marvel team up” is off to a galloping start (at Galloping Hill?! Nah. . . heh.). Here’s the latest on it, and a bit:
…A new RNA startup is emerging from stealth with a Big Pharma partnership, a leadership team that hails from well-known RNA drugmakers and $300 million in venture capital.
ReNAgade Therapeutics (with its name styled to highlight the firm’s “RNA” focus) launched publicly Tuesday after 18 months or so operating behind closed doors. The startup was founded by MPM Capital affiliate BioImpact Capital, which led the Series A investment round with F2 Ventures.
ReNAgade has a “running start,” as CEO Amit Munshi puts it. Already, the young startup has teamed up with circular RNA startup Orna Therapeutics Inc., which itself launched just over two years ago. That sets ReNAgade up for a partnership with Merck, since Orna and Merck entered a $3.5 billion collaboration in late 2022 that, ReNAgade revealed, includes technologies developed through the ReNAgade-Orna joint venture….
The company has about 100 employees already. Its headquarters are [on] Memorial Drive in Cambridge, a storied building that’s been home to a Ford Motor Co. assembly plant, a Polaroid Corp. manufacturing facility and MIT….
Munshi is a serial entrepreneur and experienced CEO, having previously headed up… Arena Pharmaceuticals Inc. [among others]….
The rest of the C-suite is similarly star-studded: chief scientific officer Pete Smith was chief early development officer at Alnylam and head of nonclinical R&D at Moderna; chief operating officer Ciaran Lawlor is another former Moderna scientist; and chief business officer Brian Shuster spent about 15 years at Johnson & Johnson Inc. and Bristol Myers Squibb Co….
Now you know — off for a mountain bike ride along the crystal clear spring lake waters, on a 77 degree day! Woot! Be excellent to one another…. smile.
In discussing Sen. Scott’s run, he ignores the most likely outcome, should Tangerine not be nominated by the GOP. He will run third party, and that will mean no GOP or other right leaning candidate will have any shot at a win in the general.
Hilarious. Even now these idiots cannot see that Trump will kill them all, even if they don’t nominate him. And he may occasion the death of the GOP, in doing so.
But buried in all of it, is the admission that… in the main, he and his fellow travelers, Hinderaker, Johnson and Hayward… tend to overstate the declines they see… mostly because they are just old — and wish for the return of the 1950s of their falsely idyllic youth.
But tonight, I want to amplify it, since Hinderaker regularly says blue cities like Chicago and nearby suburbs are “very poorly run“. Hah!
Hinderaker offers a chart tonight, which suggests where there may be elevated risk of brownouts or blackouts if it gets particularly hot this summer. Hilariously, Chicago, Milwaukee and the nearby suburbs of each will experience no such risk — even by his own admission. Nor will all of blue… New York (another place he claims is poorly run). And we all employ quite a bit of greener, renewable energy at the source.
So there’s that, John.
And there is the fact that the GOP intentionally hobbled Texas’s electricity grid about 24 years ago, to maximize the amount it could reap via Enron schemes — for wealthy legacy Texas oil families. [It privatized that pig trough, as all monopolists do.]
Note that most of the areas with severe issues burn coal or natural gas and oil, and thus are skewed to the GOP controlled areas in the South, and Southwest. That is not a coincidence.
These pigs are gouging small mom and pop consumers, and pocketing vast profits.
Hinderaker well-knows it — and he isfully complicit… with his lying.
Updated: 05.23.2023 — Ted Cruz, that sack of dung, yesterday said that Dr. King would “be ashamed” of the NAACP’s stance on Florida. Uh-huh.
Within hours, Bernice King, Rev. King’s daughter rose, in answer to Ted “KKK” Cruz: “What my father would be deeply concerned about is the harmful, discriminatory legislation in Florida,” King tweeted, along with a photo of her late father. End, updated portion.
The embittered, impotent old whyte loon Hinderaker complains this afternoon that the NAACP has “always” been a worthless organization. Uh-huh.
I’d let it pass, but the true giant of a proud Black man who taught me civ. pro. argued Bivens in front of the Supremes, on behalf of this very same NAACP. And he was a clerk for Thurgood Marshall, who himself had argued Brown… on behalf of the same NAACP. [So I’ll rise now… to defend my betters — my brothers, of a greater God.]
I get that John cannot see, or value anything that doesn’t put money in his own pocket — as remotely worthwhile. [And as we’ve established, he is a heathen — as to Christ’s social gospel at Matthew 25:36-41.]
So — yes, John is… a lost soul. He’s excised a very large part of the New Testament from his version of X-ianity. [As have most frothy hard right malign crisis actors.]
So — when the NAACP issues a [Anti-]Green Book call, for Florida… John sees only the fact that prior to that time, some of the leaders of NAACP had visited Florida, and one has the misfortune of living in Tampa. [My understanding is that the house is offered for sale, already.]
In any event, I guess… (preposterously!) John thinks that DeSantis is going to run Florida until he dies?! He’s already all but declared, for 1600 Penn. And it may well be that Florida’s mansion is Democratic hands by 2024. So she should move, John?! You. Are. An. Idiot.
Weather continues to vex launch dates for a second TROPICS rocket liftoff down under.
We will keep you posted, but the prior one was… flawless. Here’s the update, from NASA:
…NASA and Rocket Lab are now targeting no earlier than 12 a.m. EDT Thursday, May 25, (4 p.m. NZST) for the final launch of the agency’s TROPICS (Time-Resolved Observations of Precipitation structure and storm Intensity with a Constellation of Smallsats) mission due to unfavorable weather conditions. Rocket Lab will continue to assess the weather, and provide updates.
The pair of spacecraft remain healthy and ready for launch on a Rocket Lab Electron rocket from Launch Complex 1 in Māhia, New Zealand.
This launch is the second of two planned launches, each sending a pair of shoebox-sized satellites to low Earth orbit to make more frequent observations of tropical cyclones, which includes hurricanes and typhoons. TROPICS will provide data on temperature, precipitation, water vapor, and clouds by measuring microwave frequencies, providing insight into storm formation and intensification. The data will help scientists better understand the processes that affect these high-impact storms, ultimately leading to improved modeling and prediction….
Now you know — lots of random visits to collateral sites this morning… trusting all is okay(?)…
These two boys used regularly to lecture all of us — (in 2017-19, most recently, but…) primarily from 2000 to late 2007… about how, supposedly since the Democratic Party had lost some national elections during Bush 43’s time, we should just sit down and shut up, as that Administration spied on, and demonized loyal patriotic US Muslims, and John Yoo wrote lawless memos to authorize torturing enemies, and National Park lands were sold off, to Texas oil and gas families — among many other matters.
We were told “elections have… consequences”, by these two. And that there was effectively no right to peaceably assemble, to petition the branches of government — for change.
Welp.
Right backatcha’ — you malign morons. But me? I welcome your right to protest — as the more you yammer on, the clearer it becomes that your agenda is simply 19th Century jingoism, and racism, tied to a falsely self-righteous theocracy. Hilarious — we see through you both. [Significantly, as the boys admit, Minn. runs a large surplus state-wide, so it seeks to address social needs. And the boys just hate that.]
Remember “playing for change”? See below — this is how talented people get change from a sometimes recalcitrant, but usually just apathetic, populace.
