John’s Compadre Runs A Fact-Based Counter, To His Lunancy — Right ATOP Powerline…

Finally.

A Harvard MD/PhD and reader of PowerLine… is allowed space — on PowerLine, itself — to tell the truth, thus:

“…I do not believe that we are overreacting to COVID-19. We are seeing a highly transmissible disease (as high as 100-fold transmission rate, averaging 4-fold in Chinese data with the best estimates, but almost certainly higher) with a 1 percent to 2 percent mortality across
large populations. That would suggest the possibility of 3 million to 6 million deaths in the US if we got to 300 million infections, and we could. We will likely have far fewer deaths than this, but a stronger, earlier response would have saved more. And a stronger response today could still save far more people than a more mild response….

Until we have treatments and vaccines, preventing transmission is the only way to go. Every blocked transmission could be a life saved—or many lives, given how transmissible the virus is. And every person-to-person interaction that we don’t have could be a new case of COVID19 prevented….”

That’s at least some sanity, making a comeback.

Two hours later, though — John is right back to his… bat-shittery. Ugh.

He impliedly thinks deaths should primarily be evaluated by what the dead might have added to the US economy, had they lived. And since many of the dead will be over 75 [more a drain on society, than a boon to it, money-wise], he sees it as acceptable to prefer commerce — over human life.

But he “gets there” with wildly wrong math. He [completely without any epidemiological or biocience training, and without any real evidence — thus, wrongly] “foresees” fewer than 80,000 deaths in the US. Just a heavy flu year.

He is certainly wrong — too low — by at least 300 PER CENT — and, as the doctor from Harvard suggests, above… perhaps by over 40 FOLD.

Not so sure about his economics-first analysis… if even only one million are dead — when the dust finally settles.

And my central point, for weeks now, is that John is utterly UNQUALIFIED to offer an opinion. He would not take the doctor’s word — on a complex federal cross-motion question — so, do not take John’s, on this life and death prediction.

Out.

Rest in peace — and in power, brother.

AND… trust the doctor — a real doctor.

Again Hinderaker Proves He Is No Virologist…

John is yammering on and on, nearly daily, about what he claims is a COVID-19 “overreaction”, by health experts and state and local governments (and impliedly his beloved “dear leader”).

He repeatedly poo-poos it all as just an above average seasonal flu. It must be said then, that every death over 60,000 from COVID-19 (and Trump’s own Dr. Fauci tonight is predicting perhaps 200,000 deaths — so some 140,000) are John’s to bear.

His hubris, coupled to ignorance makes those deaths more likely, as at least some people (mostly seniors) will ignore good advice, due to his claptrap.

It is his ignorance — and the ignorance of others — that will be… blood on his hands. Perhaps his parents’ blood; his wife’s parents… or their remaining aunts and uncles. His elderly neighbor… his church deacon… or his kindly local Wal-Mart greeter. But someone may die, due to his misinformation.

In sum, he should shut up — since he is utterly clueless.

Once again, we will note that flu seasons “peak” at around 60,000 deaths in our country, in a heavy year because a majority of seniors are known to get a flu vaccine, annually — for free, or nearly free, in most states.

Confidential to John: psst! There is no vaccine — and no one is immune. COVID-19 cannot be suppressed the way our seasonal flus are, moron.

The comparison then — is apples to… horse-manure… no comparison, at all.

The Moderna vaccine candidate looks promising — but essentially no one has been given immunity or even heighten resistance from it — because it doesn’t exist in the market, yet.

So again John — STFU. Just. Shut. It.

When 200,000 have died — I’ll predict he won’t even apologize for being wrong by a five fold factor.

He’s just feckless like that. Like Trump.

Update: late tonight, Paul M. (a co-blogger) added a squib to John’s post — to note this glaring lunacy.

[Paul, however, failed to flag it as dangerous ignorance — but that it certainly… is.]

Onward… just watching these morons… is painful.

In The “John Obviously Hasn’t… Surfed” Dept.: A Wave Is Movie, Not A Snaphot.

I’ve resolved tonight to make this all “idiot simple“. Heh.

I am hoping John’s increasingly enfeebled mind will… more readily absorb pictures — even if they simplify reality just a bit.

Here is his latest. Yet again, he says it is no more worrisome than the “regular” flu of 2017-18. [The virus we now face is as different, genetically, from that one — as we are, from… Neanderthals.]

In so doing, Hinderaker takes that 2018 “snapshot” — of the end of that experience, and then argues — without evidence — that the present COVID-19 movie, one in which the opening titles haven’t yet finished running… should be the subject of ridicule. This is so because he’s using the end of a 2018 movie in which a vaccine was widely available — and administered, for that year’s flu.

[There is no Corona vaccine — and so essentially no one has acquired immunity to it, except for people who’ve already gotten it, and recovered. In sum, COVID-19 cannot be suppressed the way our seasonal flus are, moron.]

In pictures, then — we are presently at “One” [1] — in my graphic, at right — the wave is still building, and gathering energy. The wave’s lip hasn’t yet begun to curl — in “Two” [2].

So we cannot yet even remotely estimate the tonnage of the ocean’s water we are about to be COMPLETELY pounded by — in… “Three” [3].

One should be especially circumspect [cough — John] when opining on bio-science, and pandemic transmission waves — one doesn’t… understand. At all.

People’s lives — perhaps over 300,000 of them, globally, hang in the balance, John.

JUST SHUT UP. Yeah, in a word — shut up.

Or try surfing — on Hawaii’s North Shore, before offering this utter nonsense. Go, get pounded.

John Is No Biologist — Or Historian — That’s Clear… But He Never Misses A Racists’ “Pot-Shot”.

John writes lots of truly stupid, lost-soul junk — about what all he thinks he knows about COVID-19. I mostly ignore it. [In that one, he assumes we have accurate “inside China” data. We absolutely know we… don’t. So all the rest of his… is garbage.]

That’s — I suppose — to be expected, from a blowhard like him.

But today’s nonsense installment is positively… chart-topping. He talks interchangeably about pre-2007 viral outbreaks [SARS — as different genetically from this mutated version as Homo-floresiensis, is from… us] in China, solely to lay blame on the federal government response in 2020, at CDC — which he magically divorces from Trump’s mal-administration, entirely — in a feat of bald faced lying, thus:

“…President Trump has often referred to COVID-19 as the ‘Chinese virus,’ to the dismay of many liberals. But the fact that the virus came from China is no coincidence. On the contrary, it was the inevitable result of practices that are specific to that country….

[Describes (inaccuately) an old study.] That was in 2007. Did the Centers for Disease Control take the hint?….”

John knows nothing of bio-science. Zero. Each season brings a new mutation — and any counter-measure must be engineered from that season’s mutation. Not Not Not… 2007’s.

Moreover, Trump simply… ignored the CDC’s highly-detailed, well-designed plan, for over a month just now. Yes, John’s a lying sack of dung.

He also — along the way — gives cover to Trump’s plainly racist need to label it a “Chinese” sin, a’gin’… whites. What. A. Tool.

F U G L Y.

Well Now — Listen To That Pot, Callin’ “Black!” — On The Kettle…

John is so… preciously… pedantic.

Tonight, he would tell us that a certain Democrat (based on a single 30 second clip!) lacks the mental agility to be president, thus:

“…I’m not saying Biden shouldn’t be president. That has always been true. I am saying that he lacks the physical and mental qualities necessary to to the job — not to do it well, but to do it at all….”

Precious.

Let’s just listen in tonight, for the number of completely-frighteningly… incoherent things Trump says tonight — at 9. Yes — let’s.

Unscientific things. False things — about COVID-19. Thus, dangerous… things.

Biden would by no means have been my first choice — but to the extent John has any point at all… I do guarantee, in repeatedly stark contrast to Trump — he will surround himelf with fine people [and more important — listen to them, and follow their advice].

We have proof positive of the opposite — everyday, from Trump. And… every night. See below:

Onward.

Hinderaker/Heyward Notes… Roberts. Both Omit… Any Sense Of Irony.

The authors — to a man — at PowerLine are all worked into a lather, over one Senator’s remarks — about two Justices.

Sorry — I forgot to include Hinderaker’s version: “the most shocking political act… of [his] lifetime…”?! [He’s apparently missed a few decades.]

Y A W N.

Yes — the remarks by the Democratic Senator from New York were… boorish.

Steve felt a calling — and fully reprinted the whole of the Chief Justice‘s letter decrying the boor — completely clue-free, as to the ironic content… of it.

John openly lies when he ignores much the same uttered by the president himself about federal judges, and Justices.

Steve; John and… that Chief Justice — and essentially all GOP folk — fall uniformly deathly silent — when the sitting Chief Law Enforcement officer belittles and ultimately threatens — on multiple occasions — over and over — the women on the High Court, and a myriad of lower federal court judges.

Trump threatened several federal trial court judges, and cast aspersions upon the Notorious RBG and The Wise Latina Justice… most recently, last week. At several campaign stops… on video.

No scathing letter from the Chief to Trump — no rebuke from the boys at PowerLine.

In sum… no… surprise.

Craven lock-steppers, all. Sad, really.

Onward.

And In A Similar Vein… Will They Ever Condemn The “VERY Swampy” Blago Commutation?

Ahem. Here is a hard-right leaning paper’s takedown of Trump commuting a former governor (convicted of among other things, an attempt to sell Mr. Obama’s Senate seat) — a guy who, it just so happens… was on his show for a season.

One that at least shows a modicum of integrity.

In so commuting, Trump called out the prosecution team, in the Blago case, by name — James Comey, and [replete with an Irish-baiting mis-spelling of the last name of] Patrick Fitzgerald — which more than hints at it being payback for the supposed Russia-gate.

I will likely die of old age long before the clowns at Power Line criticize this latest and deeply deplorable version of Trump corruption.

Didn’t he run to “drain the swamp“, boys?

I forget.

In any event, it is clearly his moronic way of telegraphing a coming pardon for… wait for it — one Roger Stone.

Will John & Co. Ever Directly Address The Guilt — Of Roger Stone — Of Multiple Felonies?

…or will all of them keep whining about how unfair it is… that he decided to repeatdly lie under oath — and threaten witnesses and judges — and then got caught doing ALL of it?

The evidence upon which he was convicted was overwhelming.

Personally, I half-heartedly hope Trump tries to commute or pardon.

That will be end of him, in office.

Onward — to Thursday, then.

John’s Support Of Trump: He’s Reduced To Asserting Various Fallacies Of Composition…

This is… precious. John can find so little to say about Trump — in support of him — that he is overnight reduced to talking about “ones and twos” — individuals, already GOP supporters who have liberal friends.

His claim is that Trump will be re-elected because… wait for it… these one or two voters are tired of Tump being “demonized.” [This appears on the same day that his compatriot argues that Trump does “nothing wrong” in criticizing Roger Stone’s coming sentence — and prior prosecution — all clearly to insulate Trump, should Stone squeal under what may amount to a life sentence. This illogical form of argument is called “reductio” — and it collapses the crime of obstructing justice into simple political banter. It matters greatly that Trump is complaining about a series of felonies undertaken to benefit his 2016 run for the White House. But John wants to waste paragraphs on a few would-be turncoat pussy hat knitters?! And now, by noon on Friday, another of his co-bloggers recites this sad and unbecoming theme. Hilarious.]

Where was I? Oh yes. John clearly needs a distraction from the Trump-Barr-Stone crime spree. Even if his contentions were factual — they are not — this argument of his, such as it is… commits the fallacy of composition. In logic, what is true of one case, likely will not hold — in ALL cases.

Of course, John debated in high school and college, and made a career of it, in the courts — so he well knows this is a strictly losing appeal.

But his readers — he thinks — are too stupid to know better. So he prattles on.

As I say, precious.

Be excellent to one another. Out.

Dark Day: Craven Republicans Edition…

Indeed… much will change by November — about only that much is Hinderaker right.

I’ve taken the liberty below — of correcting his quote, from tonight — to reflect the reality that 57 percent of Americans see:

“…Much will change between now and November, but this week has been a dark time for the [suck up synchophants in the Republican] Party, and a shining moment for [those Senators who despite the craven outcome, still hold fast to Constitutional duties — all the Democrats, and Sen. Romney] in America [even if Trump remains — for the moment only].…”

The people will now have their say on Trump, McConnell and the fear addled, criminal GOP come November.

We shall see. We shall… see, John.
