Hilarious! All Trump’s RICO Claims Tonight… Die — As Statute Of Limitations, Blown…

This, this 108 pages of fevered conspiracies from 2016… is comical.

It is not so much litigation, as it is a hundred-plus page “press release, of lies” — about stuff from long ago. [And at least in theory, Tangerine thinks he WON 2016… so what is this?!]

I agree with Hinderaker that no reputable lawyer has represented Tangerine in over a decade. This is no exception. It just allows him to say “we allege” — and avoid libel losses.

Other than that, it means nothing. Most of the claims are outside the time limit for bringing such claims, and nowhere does the complaint allege any discernible pattern of behavior, upon which RICO claims must be based, in order to succeed.

This is a waste of any court’s time.

See ‘ya Tangerine.

[Tangent / Old Econ.:] After Merck’s Decade Of Struggling To Keep It Profitable, Cherokee To Now Drop 300 Jobs; Close Entire API Facility…

We have covered the Cherokee story since 2010. The last large layoffs were in 2012, comprising ten per cent of the workforce there.

It is a USW facility — and that makes it doubly hard, as it may adversely impact relations at the old Westpoint facility (also USW represented). In any event, the spasms will reverberate through these ancient hill-side communities, in rural Pennsylvania.

Here’s the bit, from a local paper, this morning:

. . .”We will start discontinuation of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing in 2024, which will lead to the ultimate closure of the Cherokee manufacturing site,” the statement read. “Currently, we do not know the ultimate disposition of the site.

“This decision will impact approximately 300 full-time Merck employees, with separations occurring in a phased approach over a number of years; no separations related to this closure are expected in 2022. It’s important to emphasize that the decision to cease operations is no reflection of the performance of our Cherokee employees. . . .”

Northumberland County [Pennsylvania] Commissioner Chairman Sam Schiccatano said the county was informed on Wednesday afternoon of Merck’s closing. No other information was provided to the commissioners, he said.

The plant, one of the Danville area’s largest employers, sits along the Susquehanna River on a 323-acre complex, 127 of those acres inside the fence line. . . .

This is tough news, indeed. We wish the families all the best — and hope Mr. Davis is keenly aware of the suffering he is inflicting here. Onward.

[U] John Says Tucker And Candace “Provide A Valuable Service” — In Propigating Russian Dis-Information, About Ukraine…

UPDATED — 03.23.2022 @ 9 PM EDT: I will bump this to the top, since tonight Hinderaker has again pretended that lying about (and defending) the atrocities Putin is committing daily in Ukraine, against children and civilians more broadly… is some form of noble US tradition of “thoughtful dissent.” It is not.

He claims the NYT is at fault, for not quoting and adequate enough number of paragraphs filled with conservatives’ thoughts — on defending Putin. In any sane telling, by rational humans, the Times need not do so, since — as at left, we have the “conservatives” (like Candace Owens-Farmer, whom he defends by name) laying out her lies, in daily written tweet storms. [John’s claim is that the Times ascribes positions to them… they do not hold. See Exhibits A and B, above. QED.]

Nope — John, no need to quote them at length, and amplify their lies. We all see them on the daily on Twitter. Candace in particular has said she will never repudiate her views on the matter, by separate tweet. So there you have it — John is thrice conflating shilling for monsters, with loyal, principled dissent and support of our nation, by patriots — as in the Vietnam era. End of updated portion.

[Originally published at 1:47 PM EDT on 03.222.2022] Somehow, Hinderaker here conflates “loyal, thoughtful dissent” (a grand American tradition) with Rosenburg level disinformation, against one’s own nation — in direct aid of Russians whom, very likely pay… Candace (and quite possibly, Tucker) to tell lies about their own nation.

That was Putin’s trade-craft in the 2016 election cycle (via Guccifier 2.0) — and now, it is his hoped-for way of demoralizing Western, and specifically, US resistance to his invasion of Ukraine — and the atrocities he is committing daily, there, now.

And yet John — who claimed Jane Fonda did the same in Vietnam, in service of the Viet-Cong — now sees only a patriot’s dissent in Candace Owens.

It matters immensely, obviously, that he finds her attractive. Yes, he’s that shallow. But it matters, even more (for John) that what she is doing is aiding his GOP party line, which is bent on undermining the NATO/EU/US governmental (read: Biden) efforts to freeze Putin out of the world economy, and secure a cessation of hostilities that way.

Why? Because GOP’s big oil is… in bed with Putin.

As are the defense contractors (also deeply GOP).

Yes, this is — as ever — about money, not little peoples’ blood — for John.

He always backs the money — even the monsters’ money. Maybe he hopes to get some of the graft Candace has scored.

Disgusting.

In Which Hinderaker PRETENDS Not To Understand That GOP “Created” The US Sentencing Guidelines…

UPDATED: Candace, and Hinderaker — each offer a knowingly-specious, and therefore racist- and sexist- attack on KBJ this afternoon.

He (and she) parrots a hard right GOP line of argument, but phrased as a deceptive leading question, from yesterday’s hearings.

And. as KBJ deftly pointed out (in her replies — much to the red faces of Blackburn, Cruz and Graham), yes those moronic, malevolent GOP Senators, saying that someone “didn’t give the absolute maximum sentence in the substantive statute” for a given offense… is in no manner co-terminous with “soft on crime” (of any kind, let alone kiddie porn, as she, John and they alleged).

You see — as at least John and the Senators well-know — there are GOP created (under Saint Ronnie Reagan) “federal guidelines” that arch over every substantive crime sentence provision, and essentially tie a judge’s hands — to prevent anything outside of a very narrow range, in months and years. [In this regard, especially as to child sexual predators, this is why FBI often turns the accused over to state prosecution, as for example in Colorado, where natural life without parole is the sentence — and no federal guideline will ever be applied to reduce that. Meanwhile, in Ohio, where the Subway guy (Jared) was able to get a federal, rather than state prosecution, for child sex trafficking, he will now be eligible for release — in under five years — serving less than 12 total. So to say the GOP Senators (and Hinderaker) are lying… is to be quite charitable.]

In every case, KJB fully complied with that federal guideline calculation in sentencing — as it is substantive law (and she sat exclusively on federal cases). Yes — she’s bound to follow the law, until amended or repealed. and she did so.

Y A W N.

To say that not every sentence reached the natural-life-no-parole max, for each offender… is to BOLDLY LIE, about how the sentencing process at the federal level actually works.

And John knows it (he was, at least allegedly, once trained as a lawyer — though clearly that license has long lapsed). But he takes this lie a wobbly series of dishonest steps beyond that to say that Democrats are “okay” with child porn, solely, since the NYT criticized the questions, by explaining that the questions emanate from the Q-Anon Pizzagate smear. That smear was proved to be a lie as early as 2016.

So, again John — you can just f#ck right off with these preposterous lies.

Smearing a future SCOTUS Justice — dishonestly — is a crap look, even for… you.

Tangerine Has… Lost The Plot: America Has A Different Focus, Now. He’s Old News.

This is indeed precious. Trump is still cater-walling about a supposed injury his vain pride suffered over two years ago now… but there’s a war on.

A war in Ukraine, which it becomes clearer day by day, was occasioned by Manafort / Trump / Rudy and the influence peddling they offered, to Putin to peacably carve up Ukraine. Of course, that deal never bore fruit, as all his boys got indicted — and even after he pardoned them, he couldn’t make NATO look the other way — as he was by then out of office.

So, to people who follow these things, these Putin-committed atrocities against the people of Ukraine matter as much for what they do to the innocents, as for how Trump created this path for Putin.

In sum, who cares who Tangerine pulls his endorsement from, in Alabama? Brooks may or may not win, in the general — as a result — but America is (if nothing else) sick to death of Trump’s self-obsession, and shallow opinions, about world affairs.

Heck — even that most shallow of cads, John Hinderaker, has forsaken him — as of Monday.

Hinderaker’s Boy, Paul Manafort, Yanked From Dubai Flight: US Passport… REVOKED!

EmptyWheel as ever, has this — to the nines, thus:

…[Paul] Manafort [was not] pardoned for his efforts, which continued at least until he was arrested, to help alleged Russian spy Konstantin Kilimnik carve up Ukraine to Russia’s liking.

Nor was Manafort pardoned for his role in all the influence-peddling that Rudy Giuliani was involved with in Ukraine through 2020….

This was three days ago. The fact that Sean Hannity has not been wailing about the poor treatment of Manafort since… suggests there’s not a good way to spin it….

So — the guy (at a minimum) likely owes back IRS debts of a size which allowed that agency to place a “flight risk” on his passport — and flag it, for a call — if he tried to run. Which he apparently did so try… three days ago.

H I L A R I O U S.

Meanwhile, Steve Toots Tangerine’s Horn — As Just The Strongman, To Oppose Putin’s Aggression, Should It Drift Toward Western Europe…

The bit from Hayward tonight is off the wall dumb. In fact the whole thing is so… precious, as to be… hilarious.

We are now to take it that a “virtue” of Trump is that he would nuke Putin’s Russia.

I. Can’t. Even.

That Tangerine now offers mild opposition to Putin’s Ukraine atrocities… only tells me one thing: Trump’s Russian loans — on about $700 million of his real estate empire… have been called.

He’s broke. Again.

He has literally nothing left to gain from being friends with Vlad. And not much left to lose, as the vultures and governmental fines threaten to again bankrupt his holdings, whatever they might still be worth.

Jolly good show, though Steve — truly — jolly good… (theater) show.

Huh. Is This… Progress, Of A Sort? I Dunno.

Tonight Hinderaker (largely because he well-knows Tangerine is positively toxic in this environment — and thus un-electable, again) declares Trump should not be the 2024 GOP nominee.

I am glad he said so. It is how he gets there that is so… amazingly disgusting.

He waited six full years into a six year period, and two full years after Trump was put out of office, to say he doesn’t like Trump’s “baggage” — a euphemism John would employ, even now — to avoid calling him a preternatural liar. And a liar about his paid sexual encounters, at a minimum.

All of this was known — for six years, minimum. And absolutely known by John — but he sat stony silent, mostly… offering encouragement every two months or so. Indeed, Trump was his useful idiot, when cutting taxes on the ultra-wealthy, helping big oil, running rough-shod over the Post Office and the Constitution… installing his children in self-enriching, endless graft producing positions in government, for which they had zero qualification… and most of all — brutalizing brown asylum seekers, at our southern border, while granting hall passes to white ones from Russia and Crimea and Ukraine (i.e., the pro-Putin factions, there).

But only now, since he knows Trump cannot win a national election… only now — will he condemn him.

I take it back — that is not progress at all, in John’s morals. That is a confirmation of John’s endless, shameless… personal depravity [and Trump’s incidentally, with his].

[Do recall that under a month ago, Hinderaker was mealy-mouthed, and quibbling, about what the word “invasion” actually means — in defense of Putin (thus the graphic at immediate left). I’d say this is now MORE than in invasion.] What a turd in the punch bowl, that Hiinderaker guy has turned out to be.

I’ll Help Scott Out: O’Keefe’s “Veritas” HAS Clearly Committed Crimes. Period.

Today, Scott Johnson again tries to paint the Project “Veritas” people as… journalists.

That is worthy of an eye-roll, in itself.

But he concludes by saying it “remains to be seen” whether people at Veritas committed crimes (knowingly receiving stolen property, primarily) in their efforts to source the supposed private diary of an adult offspring of the Biden family.

This has been pretty well vetted — and is apparently the subject of a pending felony indictment. There is no dispute that the Project staffers had possession. There is no dispute that the Project knew it had been taken from a private place, without permission — and that the people at the Project were “brokering it” between various buyers and at least one seller. A seller well-known, to them. Game over.

So — the facts (as opposed to the feverish speculation about a supposed Hunter laptop) are pretty conclusive, and all already in the public record — as to the central part of the felony receiving stolen property charges.

Crimes were committed, Scott. Felonies. You’re welcome.
