[U: Trump Says “Release It.”] Trump’s Lies Tonight Are Trivial — If Wa Po Reporting Is Accurate… But They Are… Lies.

…but they are shamelessly consistent, so I’ll note them. He complains (again tonight) that Mr. Obama may have personal copies — COPIES — of lots of documents, in his presidential library collection. So too, do Bush 43 and Bill Clinton. [Updated on Friday morning: Tangerine said on his “truthsocial.com” (I will not link that festering cess-pool, ever) that the claim of nuclear weapons documents was a “hoax” — and said he would not oppose release of the warrant and A and B attachments. End update.]

Prior presidents — into the millions of pages, too.

But as I say (and this is a trivial lie, if the Wa Po is right)… that cannot be EVER be comparable to holding originals of nuclear weapons-grade classified papers, in a basement in Mar-A-Lago.

Especially where Trump is known to sell anything not nailed down. And even some things… that are nailed down.

As I say… it may not matter (much), if/when he gets what amounts to a life sentence, at 20 years… but tonight, I want to make a clear record — of this deplorable excuse for a human being.

Out — grinning, about what tomorrow at 3 pm Eastern will bring….

[U] So — We Won’t Have Too Wait Long To See Whether Trump OPPOSES The Release Of The Mar-A-Lago Warrant, Now.

Time to put up, or shut up, Kumquat.

Tangerine was just ordered to tell the DoJ/FBI whether he will try to block release of the warrant and Attachments A and B. While Tom Fitton’s filing is now completely irrelevant, Trump has irretrievably lost any high ground here, no matter which way he goes. Here’s the full text on the schedule, just entered in Miami.

[In a related note, I have great respect for the USDC Magistrate Judge in Miami handling this — I have seen him in action, and under fire — in other high profile cases, but… I am not going to name him. There are too many MAGA nuts out there. And to be clear, they are ultimately Trump’s responsibility, if anything steps off.] Here it is:

…PAPERLESS ORDER taking under advisement 18 Motion as to Sealed Search Warrant

The United States shall immediately serve a copy of its Motion on counsel for former President Trump. On or before 3:00 p.m. Eastern time on August 12, 2022, the United States shall file a certificate of conferral advising whether former President Trump opposes the Government’s motion to unseal….

Signed by Magistrate Judge [REDACTED] (Entered: 08/11/2022)….

These are, indeed… interesting times. [Updated @ 10 PM CDT: And as ever, Hinderaker has drawn all the wrong inferences, from the entire strand of events.

It now turns out (per WaPo reporting) that the boxes of documents seized include nuclear weapons classified material. Pretty darn sure Bill Clinton did not have any of that category in his sock drawer (if the legends are to be credited as truthful). But that means that, in at least one small respect, John was right: any attempt to sell those, or give any foreign national access to them (perhaps as seen on the video feeds already recovered)… would be the quintessential “something big” up Merrick Garland’s sleeve. Cheers.]

Savvy Saama Has Won A Contract, To Aid Merck, In AI-Powered Clinical Development Tracking And Analysis / System Integration.

This is a fine feather in the cap of the small AI- powered outfit. It was founded by a true prodigy mathematician. [So we… like him.]

And this — speed to identify both promising avenues, and/or dead ends — will likely save Merck into the billions of dollars, over the next five to ten years. Well worth it. [Especially as compared to a “one-trick pony” vapor-ware / web 3.0 grab-bag of frankenstein-ed existing software — now being offered by the felon Martin Shkreli, under the name “druglike”. Heh.] Here’s the bit:

…Saama Technologies, LLC. (“Saama”) today announced a multi-year agreement with Merck, known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, to build and operationalize a new clinical data layer leveraging Saama’s Life Science Analytics Cloud (LSAC) to strengthen Merck’s clinical development capabilities and expedite pipeline progress.

“Saama and Merck share a commitment to accelerating drug development and utilizing state-of-the-art Machine Learning for clinical data management processes. We are pleased to support the clinical development efforts of one of the top biopharmaceutical companies in the world,” said Suresh Katta, Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Saama Technologies. “LSAC will enable Merck’s team to optimize and automate processes, accelerate cycle times, and reduce costs in the quest to bring new treatments to patients sooner.”

Under the agreement, Merck will integrate LSAC into its clinical development systems to improve speed and efficiency related to the ingestion, curation, and transformation of data and facilitate processing from multiple internal and external data sources to multiple business platforms and analytics needs….

Now you know — smiling, as I look forward to a french dinner out, and another… 38 years.

[U: Bluff, Called.] The “Kumquat Pol-Pot” Can Make The Warrant Pubic Right Now. He Has It. But He… Won’t. Why? 18 USC § 793 Is Likely Listed.

Updated — Here on Thursday afternoon, after FBI agents in Ohio were threatened, and then fired upon, by an armed insurrectionist… The US Attorney himself has both said he approved the warrant, and will now move the court in Miami to release it in full — in the public interest (and to protect field agents, and the AG himself… from these threats). Charming, what these odious MAGA idiots do in his name. End, update.

Okay. A bit of background: 18 USC § 793 is the Espionage Act. It specifically makes an ex-president a felon, if that ex-president uses classified documents… “against the interests” of the United States. It is nearly a certainty that Tangerine has seen the warrant includes a “probable cause” allegation, that 18 USC § 793 has been violated… by him, personally.

So… there is zero chance he is going to make it public, and the FBI has an ongoing investigation (as well as the privacy interests of the target) to consider… so it won’t, until after discovery is underway in the USDC in the Southern District of Florida (or in DC), if that is where Trump ends up getting charged.

So — his misinformation train now takes on a new engine, and new conductor: Tom Fitton. Fitton is a very poorly educated lawyer — but he does hold a license… somewhere. Overnight he filed a motion in Miami to get a copy of the warrant. He will lose. There is zero standing (and less than zero precedent) for a non-party, in a felony case (even if considered a journalist — which he is not), to get a copy of the warrant this early in the game. If nothing else, to protect privacy (these are allegations, only now) only Trump hisself may make it public.

But it is clear that this is Kabuki theater: Fitton knows he will lose, but it lets Tangerine hack/flak media outlets continue to baselessly claim some Deep State is conspiring against exonerating… the Orange Hoard.

Many very smart people, people who follow this very closely, believe Kumquat Pol-Pot has violated — and will likely be charged… under 18 USC § 793. It is a near certainty that the warrant lists it, among others, as statutes alleged (on a probable cause standard) to have been violated by the ex-president. And no USDC Judge is going to authorize a warrant against such a high profile political operative, without VERY substantial probable cause. So there is likely a deeply pulverizing level of evidence amassed, even prior to Monday’s warrant returns. [That evidence could include the video-feeds, of various people (without clearance, including foreign nationals) accessing the basement document trove, at Mar-A-Lago, since Trump’s team had already provided the FBI video-feeds from inside of the compound by mid-July. That would be the kind of evidence that would prove a violation of 18 USC § 793 and would cause a USDC Judge to issue the warrant.]

Just imagine the opposition campaign posters: “Are you really gonna’ vote for someone [presently] under indictment for ESPIONAGE?!”

Eeesh — and that’s before the ads run saying “IF his accounting was ‘perfect’ as he repeatedly claimed… why did he plead the Fifth over 400 times?!”

This will all be worth the mud — this pig is gonna’ get very… dirty. Out, grinning.

Nope, Thomas Barrack’s Ankle Monitor Stays… On: USDC Judge Cogan

Not at all surprising.

But do recall this is one of Trump’s chief campaign financiers. And recall that it is likely that some of the classified documents he stole from 1600 Penn implicate Barrack. Finally — it is at least possible that the execution of the warrant in Florida on Monday was in part about… those documents, for trial. Here’s that order, just entered yesterday:

…The risk of flight is not small in this case. Even with the current financial and travel restrictions, Barrack is a heavily resourced man with an extensive network of contacts throughout the world. Despite his strong ties to the community, the crimes he is charged with are serious, and the Government has represented that the weight of the evidence against him is substantial. Facing a potential prison term of at least a decade, at age 75, it would not be surprising for Barrack to determine that he would rather take his chances and flee, despite his extensive family ties and long-time residence in his community. This risk only grows as trial approaches….

Couldn’t happen to a nicer… crew of crooks.

Now… Onward, to a cool sunny bike-ride by the lake… reflecting on 38 years…. and smiling.

Steve H. Opines That Trump IS Running For 1600 Penn. In 2024 — With A Laughable Claim.

Hayward’s latest is short; under 120 words (of his own)… and suitably clueless.

Along the way, he claims a (clearly pre-recorded) ad of Tangerine to be (wait for it!) the greatest bit of political communication… since Saint Ronnie. Hmm. Mmm-kay. Good luck with that.

But to be clear… there is nothing we progressives would love more than to see a GQP nomination battle between old “Kumquat Pol-Pot” and DeSantis.

There are probably only one or two Democratic front runners who would NOT win in a landslide against either of those two (both Harris and Newsom would — I do not expect Mr. Biden will run; in fact I expect he will retire gracefully from public life next year; Harris will be the sitting President when the conventions open, in all likelihood).

The only odd possibility is that… if Romney enters… most Democrats will see a close race against him, as a call back to the older sensible days of the GOP (kinda’ like “Ronnie Light”). [And if Liz Cheney manages to hold on to her seat… watch out, in 2024 all you MAGA morons: death comes from within.]

In any event, I write solely to say… I for one cannot wait to watch these morons spend themselves into debt, and tear each other… to shreds. GOP as a brand… is DOA.

[Clearly Steve wasn’t drinking the good stuff in Scotland — and is now a pickled brain.]

This one will be a train-wreck of lame conservative talking points… for the ages!

Grinning… out.

Hilarious! Trump Has Already Repeatedly Taken The Fifth — In New York State AG’s Deposition Of Him — On Bank-, And Tax- Fraud…

Yep — that is the whole story, right there.

Nixon never took Five; Bill Clinton never took Five.

But not even five minutes in, Tangerine has repeatedly taken Five. It is, of course, his right — but it is also pretty inconsistent with the “perfect” accounting he’s long claimed. And it casts serious doubt on his claim that the FBI planted evidence during the execution of the search warrant in Florida Monday.

Interesting times. [Hinderaker fails to note anything of substance about it, other than to sniff that maybe it means Trump cannot carry a 2024 nomination, among the “normies”. He’s right — but unintentionally so, as five paragraphs are about how unfair it is that Trump was pushed into a position. . . where he “had” to plead Five. Funny — no mention by John of that former Trump claim of “perfect” accounting.]

[Power Alley] Merck To Pay Up To $1.1 Billion, In Future “Bio-Bucks”, To Bill Gates-Backed Cerevance: In A Fresh Approach, To Alzheimer’s?

I do not mean to suggest any form of cynicism here. Alzheimer’s is a very, very tough bio nut to crack. And this “small but mighty” Cambridge based company has shown some promising early results, in mitigating Parkinson’s with these approaches. So, there is good reason to be hopeful.

But we all (long time readers, here) know the manifold history of flame-outs, across the industry — in going after Alzheimer’s, over the past two decades. Even so, we will wish the pair the best (story via Fierce Biotech):

…Another Big Pharma is entering — or rather re-entering — the Alzheimer’s ring. Merck & Co. has signed a billion-dollar biobucks deal with Cerevance to identify new therapies for the devastating neurodegenerative disease.

First, the details: Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Cerevance will receive a $25 million upfront payment from the pharma plus as much as $1.1 billion in milestones and royalties later on to develop novel targets for Alzheimer’s. The deal also involves a single discovery-stage program that will be licensed out to Merck….

I too, will now strive for a re-entry, of sorts — to offer more than occasional random looks at Merck’s pipeline deals, and M&A activities… but it may take a bit, as the sphere political and race-relations-related… seems to both be darkening, and drawing me inward… day by day.

Onward, just the same — it is sunny and cool out, afterall. Smile….

Justice Delayed… Is Justice… DENIED: Emmett Till’s Suffering, Still An Open Wound.

My masthead at the main site, at right, was generated this past weekend, knowing that the men who lynched Amaud Arbery were scheduled to be sentenced Monday for the hate crimes (on top of the state murder convictions in Georgia).

But, in truth, I was also hoping that the grand jury would complete its work during this week (and authorize charges) against the woman who falsely accused a then 14 year old Emmett Till of improprieties, and then lied on the stand to help exonerate her then husband (and another man), who had each admitted to… lynching Emmett. And that she would see justice moving toward her — on much delayed, but now swifter wings.

Neither of the men were ever punished for that crime. They walked free, and died free men… due mostly to her testimony — and the searing racism, in the State of Mississippi, in those days.

And Emmett’s “accuser”, one Carolyn Bryant Donham, while recanting her former false statements — in filmed remarks, captured by various documentarians since about 2000 through 2015… had never even been served with the original perjury warrant — from 1955. It was put away, by law enforcement at the time — and never served. But it resurfaced when a documentarian found it in the basement of a local court house.

I had been hopeful — even though the woman is 87 this year, that she’s see the criminal laws apply… to everyone. But I am sad to report tonight that the grand jury did not vote an indictment, for perjury:

…Family members of Emmett, whose killing in the Jim Crow-era South spurred the civil rights movement in America, said earlier this summer that they had unearthed an unserved arrest warrant for Bryant Donham, her late husband and his brother.

The warrant is dated August 29, 1955, and signed by the Leflore County clerk. The image of the warrant shows the current clerk certified the document as authentic on June 21. . . .

We still plainly carry national scars… or perhaps more accurately, the still-open, gaping wounds… of racism… and they fester, and fester… with each of these failures, by our judicial system. The hate festers… in so, so many of us. I am truly disappointed. Out.

Well — This Is All Very… Droll: Tangerine Effectively Concedes His Requiring NDAs Of Employees, At 1600 Penn… Was UN-Lawful.

In a vain attempt to escape liability for bad faith / fraud in contracting, in various federal employment matters, in Manhattan’s US district court, Team Tangerine’s lawyers have this morning filed a “promise” that no one in his organization will ever try to enforce the NDAs.

So he wants the able USDC Judge Gardephe to dismiss the case, without the plaintiffs’ consent. That won’t happen.

As we saw in the Portland press / protests cases, a mere promise to stop violating the law does not cure the PRIOR violations. The plaintiffs have substantial damages, after being defrauded into signing clearly unenforceable employment contracts, especially so, where we, the tax-payers… were the ones writing the checks. We are entitled to know what Tangerine was trying to do in our name — and he was fraudulently trying to prevent truthful accounts of his actions with these sham “agreements”. On our collective dime. But (for what it is worth!) here is his admission:

…Specifically, the Campaign has unequivocally sworn in the enclosed declaration that it “shall not ever enforce or attempt to enforce any confidentiality or non-disparagement provisions contained in any written agreements signed by any employees, independent contractors, or volunteers who worked for the Campaign on the 2016 Presidential Election….”

The Campaign has further unilaterally undertaken a mailing through a third-party company to all its former employees, independent contractors, and volunteers expressly advising them that they “are no longer bound by the confidentiality and non-disparagement provisions in [their] NDA[s]. …”

I think it is increasingly clear (especially so, given last night’s events) that Baby-T sees he is about to lose a lot more than just the NDA suit. And he’s trying to prevent the tsunami now rolling in on his little cove. Condor sez: “Erh… too late.” Grin.

Each defrauded plaintiff may take their pound of flesh, from him personally, now. Heh. That is, anyone who has received any version of this letter.
