It Turns Out Veritas, And O’Keefe Paid Out $40,000 To Receive A STOLEN Diary.

Well. So much for Scott Johnson’s wholly fatuous narrative. [And Candace Owens’ as well.]

Two small time grifters just pled guilty to felonies, and swore in open court that Project Veritas officers encouraged them to “go get more” of the stolen property, and transport it to New York, from Florida, and paid an aggregate of $40,000 — for all of it.

Even if one credulously were to pretend that this is a news organization, one that enjoys journalistic privileges… there is no protection — at all — for encouraging theft of property, nor paying for what was known to be… stolen property… on TWO separate installments, after sending the crooks to go get some more.

Y I K E S.

Of course, the malevolent liar O’Keefe is declining comment.

But he may yet be going to jail, too.

This isn’t about “publishing” anything. This is about buying known stolen property, and lying to say it was “abandoned” — and denying having encouraged the pick-up, and denying that money was exchanged.

Game… over — Veritas… loses.

Amazon Labor Rights Update: Company Is Threatening Pro-Union Employees In Joliet…

This involves more than one union, so we will image both of the proposed advocate organizations. This is a new charge, as of last week.

The company’s management in Joliet is threatening pro-union employees with arrest, while they are on public sidewalks, off the company property. [Arriving police officers had advised management that so long as the people were not being disruptive, or violent, they could not be arrested merely for standing on a public sidewalk, exercising first amendment rights.]

This company is soon to ride the whirlwind of 1.5 million union brothers and sisters, working together to get fair and living working conditions.

Get over yourself, Mr. Bezos — you are no monarch — and under US NLRA laws, your employees cannot be fired or disciplined or “arrested”, for advocating in earnest for change….

Cheers — on to a bike ride under overcast but kind skies. Smile.

Merck’s Carlow, Ireland Immuno-Oncology Production Facilities Expanding: 700 New Hires

This is good news for my talented bio-science cousins on the Emerald Isle.

The existing Carlow array of facilities employs about 530, and this will add more than 100 jobs in County Carlow, immediately — more as it comes fully on line by 2025. Here’s the bit, from the Irish newspapers:

…Merck says that the site, which originally opened in 2008 and is the firm’s first vaccine facility outside of the US, will begin construction and hiring for positions immediately. The company aims to begin production operations in 2025.

Once operational, Merck said the roles will include operations, quality, engineering, supply chain, and technical support. Furthermore, as well as the 100 permanent positions created through the expansion, 700 roles will be made during the building process.

“The construction of this additional facility will only add to our ability to be able to offer current and future employees a truly unique experience across our sites in Ireland, offering an opportunity to experience all elements of pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing within Ireland while pursuing a purposeful career that helps make a difference to patients the world over,” said Mairead McCaul, managing director of MSD Ireland (Human Health) and head of MSD Ireland country leadership team….

Now you know — grinning at the fine people Merck employs, world-wide — but I am especially proud of my cousins, being part of their diaspora, now generations on. Grinning — from running taverns, to mining… now to the cutting edge of human bio-science.

Compare: My Thoughts, To Those Of The Radical Right — On “Pay It Forward”.

This is a companion post to my last one, below.

Tonight Hinderaker whines in small minded fashion about student debt relief. He suggests it is not lawful. As we have shown in decisive fashion before, he is… wrong about the applicable federal law. “Let the ends be a reasonable reading of a specific act, and let the means be rationally-related” to that ends… and it is allowed to the 1600 Penn occupant. [Perhaps most telling, though is that none of these clowns made a peep when their orange dotard used it — to great fanfare (of his own making — the sound of one hand, clapping). That fact alone dooms Hinderaker’s complaints, ones he only now voices. Hilarious.]

In any event, I offer the bit at above right, from a verified Gab dot com poster, claiming to be a doctorate. I doubt it. But he is entitled to his unkind opinion, to be sure.

He and Hinderaker and Johnson are what the right thinks. They forget the GI Bill, and the WPA and New Deal, and how their parents and grandparents were helped — only so that they could DENY that same help to our children.

Truly a small minded lot. But they will not prevail in November, or in 2024 — so we will do as we see fit, not as they wish, in a mean spirited, anti-American fashion. [My version is set out at left — kindness is a virtue.]

Most polls now lean blue for this Fall. Thanks boys, for the gift of Dobbs, and the gift of a Kumquat, as the de facto leader of the GOP, now very likely to be indicted for espionage — by Fall.

Really. Thanks, John.

Out — cheers.

[U] Decades Ago, I Paid My Student Loans In Full. I Wholly-Support Mr. Biden’s Move.

Okay. Update — power liners are already whining about it. Yawn.

In truth, I only had a few cool tee shirts, two pairs of button-fly 501 jeans, and “a winning smile and a haircut” to my name, when I entered law school (long, long ago — in a galaxy far, far away). In what would be inflation adjusted (today’s) dollars though, I ultimately borrowed about $150,000 in government-backed student loans [I got some scholarships, and work/study, too] after working summers in the hard-rock mines, and holding about 25 odd jobs to pay for undergrad… yes, I borrowed what was a vast sum, for me (at the time). And I repaid every dime plus interest. . early. Decades ago. [You may fairly quibble about whether I’ve made good on the government’s faith… in my promise, as a young student. I don’t mind.]

Even so… I 100 per cent support the relief Mr. Biden offers students, and former students making less than $125,000 a year this morning.

The debts many of them carry are effectively preventing them from advancing in life (this amount is likely not enough — but it will help), and the equation has shifted considerably since I was in school: graduate degree costs have greatly outstripped the rate of increase in wages, in the last two decades. [We are effectively locking bright (but limited means) people out of home ownership, among other things.]

To be sure, we also need to address the crazy amount most schools now charge for tuition — by offering tax incentives to the universities to reduce administrative bloat — which in turn is driving the shockingly usurious increase in the cost of college.

So… it is a complex problem — and today’s action is a good, if small, first step. The GOP-ers whining that this is a give-away to the undeserving… mostly come from wealth, and never ate peanut butter and carrots for a few months — as breakfast, lunch and dinner. You know they didn’t — and those who did, are effectively saying… “I got help, but no one else should get… help.”

Me? I am (and will be) eternally grateful that this country provided me with a means to. . . better my stars. I very much wish to see us all “pay that forward“, generationally (on this, and the climate action front, among others). Onward — smiling. Well done, Dark Brandon!

We As A Nation, Are Deeply Indebted To The Four Decades Of Service From Dr. Anthony Fauci…

And rather than yammer on, in lamenting (but wholly-accurate) tones, about how Tangerine regularly thwarted his efforts, we will run this light hearted Brad Pitt piece, to honor his service to us all.

We’d ask: when… has a widely-decorated, actual, living life-scientist been so honored… with a gentle, reverent roast — by the [former] sexiest man… alive? Ever?!

Federal Trial Court Judge To Tangerine: “What on Earth Are You Actually… Trying To Say?” This “Suit” Makes No Sense.

Well… it isn’t like this blog and many Twitter-lawyers did not already say so.

Now the able jurists of the Southern District of Florida… want Baby-T come up with some actual legal theory — not a manifesto; and explain why this is not before the able federal Magistrate Judge, on the warrant. And the court wants it all by… this Friday. Pretty humiliating, for the blonde / blue-eyed (as always, with Tangerine, right? Think Jenna Ellis) 2014 law school graduate who has mostly practiced administrative / insurance law, and has never before handled a felony case, in her life. Yikes:

…The Court is in receipt of Plaintiff’s Motion for Judicial Oversight and Additional Relief.

To facilitate appropriate resolution, on or before August 26, 2022, Plaintiff shall file a supplement to the Motion further elaborating on the following:

(i) the asserted basis for the exercise of this Court’s jurisdiction, whether legal, equitable/anomalous, or both;

(ii) the framework applicable to the exercise of such jurisdiction;

(iii) the precise relief sought, including any request for injunctive relief pending resolution of the Motion;

(iv) the effect, if any, of the proceeding before Magistrate Judge Bruce E. Reinhart; and

(v) the status of Plaintiff’s efforts to perfect service on Defendant.

Signed by Judge Aileen M. Cannon on 8/23/2022….

Maybe she should seek a close-consult with that Four Seasons Total Landscaping lawyer guy (and former federal prosecutor, and city mayor). Oh. Wait. His license was pulled — for misconduct — in NYC.

Hinderaker Knows — Post Trump’s Loopy Miami Filing…

Only about four elapsed hours after Hinderaker saw Tangerine’s loony federal court filing about the Mar A Lago search warrant, John offered his first (albeit gently) anti-Putin post in at least four years.

It is clear that Hinderaker now accepts Trump is going to be indicted — and likely even realizes that indictment will implicate selling or giving top secret documents to Putin’s people (oligarchs), or Vlad himself.

So he cuts bait, and runs. Hinderaker finally hints that Vlad might have had something to do with the car bomb, ostensibly aimed at the guy who most stridently urged Putin to invade Ukraine. This story has been old news since late Friday night, but he first mentions it… late tonight (the implication is obvious).

Of course, with Trump locked away at a Club Fed, Putin is going to stop funding dumb anti-American far right haters like Hinderaker. And the Cheney / Romney wing is going to start running the GOP again.

But John’s switching gears here is… decidedly too little; too late.

His relevancy is at an end.

Out… grinning. Ever grinning.
