I Don’t Agree With Touré, But Stauffer Just Wants A New Wedge-Word… Silly.

[Since all the Powerliners are lately uniformly, exclusively, writing about trivial matters, and imagined slights… all to avoid discussing their candidate’s likely pending felony indictment… we will play along, and dutifully point out the tortured illogic of even their trivial complaints.]

To oblige, then — Elizabeth Stauffer is now daily showing herself as not much of a rational thinker.

This morning’s installment in “useless Stauffer nonsense” finds her complaining about an admittedly left editorialist who uses the name Touré. Stauffer feels she (and she alone) has the right to tell everyone what may — and may not — be considered… a slur.

Touré asserts that “woke” is a slur, when and as used by the frothy hard right to capture all “others” — and do so in a pejorative way, that has nothing to do with their views. With that last bit, I disagree. But I support her right to say that the word/term — as applied to vast swaths of varying views, as a smear… is a slur, and offensive. Whether I see it that way, is of no moment. Those are Touré’s views. And I support her right to offer them. She makes no exhortation of violence against anyone, based on it.

[Consider how, for one obvious example, it might not be okay to call a Black man you do not know very well… “boy” — or a Black woman you do not know — and know well — “grrl”. But calling your family by marriage that (ppl you’ve known for many decades — whyte or Black)… might be understood to be a term of endearment.]

That of course, is in stark contrast to the words used by Stauffer (who yesterday directly called for “burning the FBI to the ground” — as she attacked what she felt was Mr. Biden’s imprecise speechifying, in California). [Hard to see how “burn ’em down” would ever be… endearing, Bitsy.]

But the central point is that Betsy feels it her place to tell us all what we may or may not say, in the very same breath as someone telling her that what SHE said… was offensive.

And she cannot see how she IS… the very thing she purports to rail against.

Like I said — rational thought is not her long suit.

Out.

Time (Again!) To Challenge Mr. Obama’s Bracketology: 2023 Edition!

I think he and I disagree more fundamentally, and on more picks this year, than at any time since about 2012. [Click below to embiggify and print to follow along, or place your own bets.]

In all that time, I’ve only beaten him twice. And last year, though we were very close in our thinking, I managed to eek out a win.

This year, one of us is going to slaughter the other — and the winner will likely be clear by the Round of 32. But we shall see. [Interestingly, he made no pick in the Xavier vs. Pitt game — he had a likely error; a blank. But I will spot him that, if Xavier wins it.]

As ever, my picks are in green, his: handwritten in black ink. Feel free to follow along — I’ll have more commentary as the games through Saturday night are concluded. [Obviously, I’m a believer in… Marquette, this year. Hah!]

As Trump Awaits The Unsealing Of That Rumored NY Indictment, His “Truth Social” Is On The Rocks…

Well… this could well be why the Powerliners are talking about truly trivial non-stories over the last two weeks or so. The Tangerine… is about to rip new headlines, both in his failing social media site, and in the criminal courts — as a likely indicted person, very soon. Even his own lawyers now say an indictment is likely.

Here’s the latest, on the most recent series of layoffs, at his “Truth Social” site (still lacking the votes to close the SPAC merger):

…The company behind former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social has trimmed staff while awaiting regulatory approval for a merger that offers a financial lifeline, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.

Trump Media & Technology Group, Truth Social’s parent company, laid off about half a dozen people, including senior members of its ranks, such as Chief Technology Officer William “BJ” Lawson, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. Lawson was the third person to hold the role at the company. Some close to Trump Media estimate it can fund operations through September at present spending levels, according to the people….

In late February, Trump Media’s general counsel sent a letter asking Congress to investigate the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s review of the deal, writing that the “endless investigation of the DWAC-TMTG merger clearly constitutes an unprecedented attempt to kill the deal without any finding of wrongdoing….”

[His monthly confirmed visits are now] falling to just 5.7 million in February, according to digital intelligence firm Similarweb [from 11.5 million, just last summer]….

Could NOT happen to a nicer guy!

Scott Johnson: So Far Gone, From 1969…

I confess: I don’t much care for the hecklers’ veto.

I’d rather see the judge’s idiotic ideas discredited by withering sarcasm, and deflating satire. The Federalists present an invitingly rich target — on this score.

But Powerline has written no fewer than some seven articles on the non-issue at Stanford Law, with Scott Johnson leading the charge.

Yes, I’d prefer that the idiots be discredited in open debate.

Which, ironically, is why I run the image at right. This is Johnson, on some Tee-Vee quiz show for private school high schoolers, circa 1969.

Pretty hilarious. It is telling that they’ve spent so many pixels… on essentially so little, of actual note. [How about Texas bringing vigilante suits against people who aided pregnant young women — some of whom were escaping violent domestic partner abuse… in ending a pregnancy with a pill? Doesn’t that seem a more worthy windmill to tilt at, boys?]

I’m willing to bet that KBJ (despite being a much superior talent, and facing much longer odds, that is… without all of Johnson’s evident whyte privilege, at above right) didn’t get “televised” — at all — as a high school kid. But here, in far less time — she is the first African American woman to join the Supremes.

Scott? Now doddering about, and essentially yelling at the “damn kids to keep their bikes off his… lawn.”

Charming.

Once Again, Hinderaker Pontificates… About Three-One-Hundred-Thousandths of One Percent (0.00003%) Known Verified Cases — Out Of Over 65 Million US Kids.

“Pandering” doesn’t even begin to express the magnitude of these false alarmists.

So, with John on the same old faux jag, again tonight — we will rerun our last item on it, from about three weeks ago now:

[Original Dateline: February 24,2023 —] Hinderaker tonight opines that children are getting permanent top and bottom surgery… for gender dysphoria “often” in America, after 2015. [That’s a very stupid lie. There are ~60 million school age (pre-18; after that, it is an individual’s choice matter) children in the US. There were two surgeries (at 15, and 17… last year in Florida); nationwide there were fewer than 180-200. And fewer than 1,000 began taking hormone therapy. So… that’s 0.00003 of one per cent of all kids that got intervention of any substantial kind.] Incredibly, Florida’s DeSantis is pushing for new laws… based on two surgeries, out of over 3.2 million school age kids in Florida. Two.

Of course — and in any event — in his next sentence, he admits he doesn’t know much. About any of it. Obviously.

He ought to… shut up. We all know he’d be the first in line — to tell all comers to “butt out” if a set of hard right X-tian parents refuses to vaccinate their children.

But (in his upside down world, at least) parents are not allowed to choose, with their teenagers’ input — about gender surgeries?!

John?

John?

End, mission transmission.

The Zetia® Anti-Competitive Price Practices Class Action Will Be All In One Phase; One Jury — For Liability And Damages, On Two Sets Of Alleged Injured Parties.

The trial date in this likely to be multi-billion dollar matter is now just about one month off — April 17, 2023.

Overnight, the court denied a series of opposing motions to either bi-furcate — or tri-furcate(!) — the trial, and use separate juries, to address the differing damages status of some of the retail purchasers of Zetia.

The able USDC trial judge feels, quite rightly, that streamlining it will reduce confusion, and conserve judicial resources. It also presumes juries will follow multi-step instructions.

And so, on Pi Day 2023, we watch as one of the final Fred Hassan legacy debacles. . . approaches a likely multi-billion dollar reckoning, at the ringside — here, almost 12 years — and at least a thousand posts… later (on this topic, alone).

That’s quite a kick in the head. Smile….

“Rep. Comer, Jesse Watters [And Betsy!], Let Me Introduce You To Donald J. Trump!” — [And WAY More Than 150 Suspicious Activity Reports]

Again, these idiots simply don’t know when to leave well enough alone….

I would also point out to Ms. Stauffer that the two people named have never held public office — at any level.

The Cumquat Pol-Pot? Yeh — he was your preznit. 2018-2021. “Leader” of the free world. No. 45. And here you are, whining about… what we all know is a troubled son (a purely private individual)… of a politician?! Okay…

…“It’s very uncommon for anyone in America to get more than one suspicious activity report. 99.9 percent of Americans never get a suspicious activity report. But to get 150! I’m gonna go out on a limb, Jesse, and say that’s more than anyone in the history of the United States….”

Let me saw that limb right off for you, Rep. Comer, Jesse Watters and Betsy Stauffer:

Do meet… Trump, and his entities and campaigns? They’ve been the subject of over 1,000 — over the past two decades. [Over 2,500, if you include the operations that convicted felon Paul Manafort ran for him.]

In fact, a grand jury has convened this week, with testimony from his former fixer/lawyer that the Tangerine lied and told the fixer to make an illegal payment — a bribe, actually — out of campaign funds, to pay $150,000 to Stormy Daniels to stay quiet about his having paid her for sexual services.

R-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ght.

So — yes, indictments are a lil’ worse that simply “suspicious” transactions. Do try to keep up.

Enjoy the fall, morons.

So… Betsy Stauffer Now Admits… Trump Is Going To Be… Indicted.

That is the only reason she is gently dissenting from his latest unhinged attacks on DeSantis.

The only one.

She FINALLY… accepts that DeSantis will beat him in the primary. Hilarious.

What is charming about all of this… is she still doesn’t realize that when that happens, Trump will start a third party — or he will claim he owns the GOP.

Either way, when he leaves with the core set of loons that she, and the Powerline boys helped him cement into a cult… DeSantis will be… without a chance in the head dead to head against any Democratic candidate.

Trump will siphon off perhaps only ten per cent of the otherwise GOP vote, but that will mean a Democratic victory by well over 15 million votes — whether the “old, legacy” GOP nominates the Florida governor (or Nikki Haley, or anyone else).

So… Betsy is here, early on, trying to silence Trump.

She will be very sorry she ever supported him, now.

And. I. Love. It.

He may even be running his third party campaign from a federal lock-up by November 2024.

Charming.

Scott Johnson: Doesn’t Know Anything About Felony Plea Agreements With DoJ…

So… the know nuthin’ crew… is back.

Scott Johnson has apparently decided to agree with Chansley’s counsels’ claims — that the government’s Bates stamped production to both of QAnon Shaman’s criminal defense lawyers… was fabricated. That may be seen to be a pure lie, in the public court docket. I’ve seen it. They are… liars. [See all of page 3, here.]

Then Scott, despite all of that (in a document he claims to have read, and understood), decides to “ride along” with current defense counsel, and try to “take back” the fact that the Shaman’s plea allowed him to avoid potentially a decade — and get off with just 41 months, on lesser included offenses.

Y A W N.

The Shaman is lucky he’s only doing 41 months — if he does good time, he’ll be out at 85% of that, or just a little shy of three years, total. Which is about two years from now, given the time he was locked up before the plea.

Yes — he is lucky.

Consider that he and others could have been charged with the felony murder of Ashi Babbitt.

I am literally sick to death of having to point this out: she is dead due to the felony mob action, inside the inner office spaces.

And Johnson’s continunal shilling for the insurrectionists… is very tedious.

Tedious — and traitorous.

Out.
