As ever, Hinderaker cherry-picks a Rasmussen (fake pollsters!) partisan heavy result, to argue Tangerine is not in trouble.
But in fact, he is.
He’s almost 8% underwater.
That’s reality — the worst gap, in modern history for someone who is still supposedly in the “honeymoon” period (at only 103 days in office):
…As of this update [05.04.25], 44.2 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance and 51.8 percent disapprove…
That’s in no small part due to his tanking of the US, in international trade matters.
What a… putz.
Out.
Hinderaker’s recent poll analysis posts have been hilarious in their desperation. He relies only on Rasmussen, since it consitently places Trump higher than every single other major poll in the world. But when even Rasmussen shows the president underwater, John’s had to pick and choose his boasts:
1) He still polls better than Biden (citing a Biden poll from 2023, rather than at an equivalent point in his presidency, mostly because Biden crushes Trump there)
2) 64% of Americans approve of his “deportations” to El Salvador (citing the most ridiculousy slanted push-poll question I’ve ever encountered)

3) Cites a recent poll to make the loony argument that it’s ridiculous for Democrats to cry “fascism” when the government does something they don’t like, but it’s entirely reasonable for Republicans to cry “fascism” when judges do something they don’t like

4) Sure, Trump’s numbers might be in the toilet, but voters trust Republicans more than Democrats regarding immigration — just not, you know, Donald Trump specifically
