Just a few lines on this: as it is silly, in spades — but John still wants people to see him as the guy who took down Dan Rather, and now, 60 Minutes.
The problem is that all his supposed “heroism” was… um, a quarter century ago — and trivial at that.
Still, he clout-chases / claims fame — when a guy leaves 60 Minutes… in 2025.
Hilariously… sad.
Here’s what I remember: Literally minutes after that 60 Minutes segment aired, all of a sudden, conservative bloggers had hi-res copies of the notorious memos, with full knowledge of fonts and kerning. Suddenly, everybody was talking about the fake memos, and not talking about the mountains of other evidence 60 Minutes had gathered.
This might make me a tinfoil-hat-wearing conspiracy theorist, but I really do believe that Karl Rove, knowing the National Guard story was going to sink GWB’s campaign, sabotaged the story by producing those fake memos.
I mean, shame on 60 Minutes for including those memos, but I never bought for a second that the Powerline boys were some amazing investigative journalists with encyclopedic knowledge of ’60s-era electric typewriters.
So, if true, either John was in on this scheme, or he was a pawn in this scheme.
Or I could just be a crazy conspiracy nut.

Nah — man, not tin foil at all. I watched, too.
I saw the same — and just like the planted disinformation in the Steele Dossier about 15 years later, that same Rove playbook was used to hide Putin’s hold on Tangerine and get him elected in 2016.
They find a trick — and they stick with it.
Damn clown show.
namaste, man.
