And tonight’s installment is certainly no exception.
But because this is a long term pattern-style defense of crime, always offered by Hinderaker — only when committed by GOP party leaders — I feel constrained to mention the level of lying at work in John’s. He claims no one was harmed by Trump’s NY frauds — over $250 million worth.
Well — first off, the banks would have charged Trump higher interest rates, to compensate for the risk he fraudulently foisted off on them, had they known. Thus, in fact, the rest of the bank’s honest borrowers (like us!) effectively subsidized Tangerine’s real estate borrowings, due solely to his lies. We paid the honest rate — he got the liars’ discount. That’s… actionable bank fraud.
Second, and perhaps more important — the taxpayers of New York — all of them — paid incrementally more, and saw larger deficits run up — because Trump lied (and UNDER-valued his holdings for real estate tax purposes), at the same time he OVER-valued them, for the purpose of getting ever higher loan balances advanced against them.
Finally — this whole defense that the value of real estate is anything Trump wants it to be… is the same BS Hinderaker floated when Cheney was torturing people: if a powerful person wants to do it, the law ought not apply to him.
John called those… “process” crimes — by which he means the process of lying about felony matters is a mere triviality — when someone important has need/want to do it.
Sit down, clown. You are presumptively disqualified, from adult conversations, about the law and policy surrounding all financial matters, henceforth.
