“Oh. The. Humanities!” [Feigned outrage… fainting even, perhaps.]
Peter Navarro… F-ed around, and now… he’s finding out. Here is his just unsealed $100,000 — and potentially two years in the can… felony indictment, in full (a seven pager).
Yes Contempt of Congress allows for an arrest, and a perp walk. [And yes, Navarro’s legal team understands… essentially nothing, about challenging a lawful contempt of Congress arrest — as the able USDC Judge Moss pointed out in DC on Thursday.]
Preposterously, Hinderaker whines that Eric Holder (a then sitting US AG) wasn’t arrested. But neither was Bill Barr. Both were held in contempt, but in Mr. Holder’s case, after he delivered over 7,000 pages of documents, the GOP House operatives just wanted to waste his time with testimony, despite his having both blanket privilege claims and a full time job as the Attorney General. Note that Navarro (and Barr) are both private citizens, with no claim to duties of office interfering with a date to speak to the Committee, about the 01.06.21 Domestic Terrorism. [And Navarro hasn’t delivered any documents, at all.]
Oh. And the 512 page report from the OIG on Fast and Furious entirely cleared Mr. Holder, of any complicity, or pre-knowledge of the problems with Fast and Furious.
Meanwhile, the analogous reports… at least suggest that Mr. Navarro might be implicated.
Get used to it — Hinderaker, there’s going to be a lot more of this.
And your whining is just silly. This is what oversight looks like. Sit down.
There are actual consequences for being contemptuous of Congressional / Court orders.
Cheers.
