07.18.19 Late Night, UPDATE: As was widely reported in the media, Trump now claims he “wasn’t comfortable” with chants — at his rally in the Carolinas — to “Send her back….” The obvious difficulty with this claim is that there is video of the moment — and Trump stood silently while the chanting ran 13 seconds — he did not stop it — he let the crowd roar. He then, without comment of any sort on the chanting, returned to attacking Rep. Omar.
It is a feature of his campaign, not a bug. And John admits as much, below. [End, updated portion.]
John Hinderaker seems to think being president is as simple… as a game of baseball.
For John, hurling glaringly obvious — and factually ludicrous — ON THE RECORD, tweeted, racial and ethnic insults, at sitting US Congresswomen of color, no less… is simply “letting a grounder roll harmlessly between your legs.” Oops. Just an “oops.”
Of course John’s “error” analogy fails to explain why Trump did not call out the lone white male, the one NOT actually born in the US, now sitting in Congress [a Democrat, as well — one he should wish to deride] — and admonish him to return to his “original country.” Errors rarely distinguish on the basis of gender and color. Not in the same breath, at least.
But remarks born of racial and ethic animus… almost universally do.
Trump is a wanna-be KKK sheet-wearing racist. We knew that already.
But John may be… the worst apologist, for him, ever.
John’s “error” rhetoric is an ironic and deeply sinister admission, for it implies that [in John’s — and 45’s mind] straight up racism is a laudable means… for making selections, adding to remarks, and deciding policy — but it is only “wrong” insofar as one utters it aloud — i.e., only if “caught“.
John’s mantra is “sing and say the loud part… softly.”
That makes Hinderaker every bit the Nathan Bedford Forrest-worshipping racist Trump is — but John feels it’s all quite acceptable, if you only say so… in more coded, polite language.
On balance, John’s kind of racist, is the more sinister kind of man, to confront — for at least with Herr Gröpen-führer von Feltersnatch, we know what he is — going in. He pays us the “compliment“, if you will of… being blunt.
John and so many like him… simply PRETEND racial and ethnic animus doesn’t drive them — when it clearly does. They only think it is wrong — if they get caught doing it.
Yes — John is worse than Trump. He is smarter than Trump to be sure [who isn’t?]… and so his “defense” admits the core truth:
Racism infects… John. “Bone and marrow, hip and thigh. Blood and ligament….”
I rest my case.
