UPDATED: As of Saturday night, finally at least one of the PowerLiners has figured it all out: Trump went truly daft today (like “shouldn’t be the leader of the free world” daft), suggesting that a duly-obtained FISA court warrant, issued by a federal court judge, meant that 44 was “wire-tapping” him personally. Sheesh.
It is obvious to anyone with a working fore brain (and knowledge of Trump’s off-the-wall, almost always ineffectual jujitsu), that 45 made this utterly stupid assertion to deflect from what is likely to be a very damning series of disclosures — about Russian influences — in the coming days or weeks. And finally, now one PowerLiner figured that out:

This is all rather… elementary — is it not? [I won’t wait for Mr. Hinderaker’s dissembling white-wash of it all, this time….]
We all know, after Junior High — that what is done in the light of day (“eating donuts!”) with a Russian Premier is not a problem — in a free and fair democracy. It is transparency we require. Like this photo, Mr. Trump. [And like the one of Rep. Pelosi. These were public photo ops — in the broad light of day. Idiot.]
Mr. Trump seems incapable of grasping that what he or his surrogates from his campaign and transition team did, or might have done — under cover of SECRECY… is a very very serious issue.
Mr. Trump needs a truly independent counsel to investigate the whole affair, since it is plain that either (1) his own people are lying repeatedly to him — about these secret Russian meetings, or (2) he himself has been supporting/coordinating the dissembling about the same. It no longer matters what was said. He has personally helped push a lie to the American people, and in some cases, under oath, before Congress.
That latter No. (2) would clearly be a potentially impeachable, treasonous offense. And No. (1) is damning evidence of a nearly genetic inability to govern — but I repeat myself.
So, while my graphic has a light-hearted satirical cast to it — this is now a very serious Constitutional matter. One that the two other branches should independently investigate.
What has 45 and his surrogate team promised the Russians? And to whom does he owe money?
His missing IRS tax returns make it impossible to know — and his ever changing story (even on this narrow topic!) makes it impossible to believe his word.
