Mr. Trump: Violated Logan Act (Again!) — But That’s Not The News — “Hail Maria” Is THE NEWS…

WhopperLine-Trump-Wall-Fail-2016I don’t even care any longer that Mr. Trump’s meeting with the sitting President of Mexico did in fact discuss international border issues — including “the wall”, and the fact that the President of Mexico flatly refused to help pay for it. [In this matter, we will be taking the word of the sitting President of Mexico, over that of the serial fabulist Donald Trump.]

I don’t care that such discussions, at the meeting yesterday, by a private US citizen (in undeniable opposition to current US Administration positions), about matters of foreign border enforcement affairs (a power reserved by the Constitution to the sitting US President), almost certainly (again!) violated the Logan Act (three year prison sentence upon conviction).

No… I don’t care… because by last night, in Phoenix, Mr. Trump effectively buried his only chance to win the Presidency. He once again reversed course (3 times in three weeks!), and re-hardened his stance on all forms of immigration — and immigration policies.

As a result, this morning, several of his surrogates — in the Latino community — have openly and justifiably bitterly resigned:

…”I gave Donald Trump a plan that would improve border security, remove hardened criminal aliens and most importantly give work authority to the millions of honest, hardworking immigrants in the US,” Monty wrote. “He rejected that (on Wednesday) and so I must reject him. He was moving toward a reasonable, pro business and compasisonate immigration plan. (Last night) he was not a Republican but a populist, modern day Father Coughlin who demonized immigrants….”

Whopperline-538-08-04-16Mr. Trump now definitively has no path to 270 — without a much better showing in Latin communities than Mr. Romney made, in 2012. He was well-behind Mr. Romney’s 2012 low water mark, going into last night. Now he is certain to post the worst support from the Latin community, in the modern era (since 1980). He is all but certainly a loser.

The bottom line is that I am saddened (for our republic) that this lunatic is a major party nominee — but thrilled that it means we will elect a wise, strong, seasoned and level headed President, come November. And as it happens, she will be the first woman to ever hold that office.

[As a footnote, I should mention that Mr. Hinderaker is out overnight, doing a “puppy lick” all over Mr. Trump’s trip south of the border — and he’ll soon post how much he liked the Phoenix speech.  Who cares, really — John? It is just precious — and what an easy mark for the opposition he has devolved into. Hilarious.]

Congrats, Mr. Hinderaker — and Mr. Trump — you’ve (been) played flawlessly, to form — and right into our hands: the Center Left of America.

Word.
