In Which Hinderaker Writes More “White-Washing” Nonsense. Lots More. YAWN.

Powerline-Fred-Korematsu-1944-20 I only post here occasionally now… though truth is — there is no shortage of stupid, ill-considered, and just palin hateful material to choose from — when it comes to critiquing John Hinderaker’s posts at Powerline Blog.

But I’ve decided that I won’t devote more than a half-hour every few weeks to covering him… as he’s rapidly fading into… irrelevancy. [We know this because he can’t even get the Tangerine Mussolini to “holla’ back” @ him, by tweet (grin…).]

So — even though he wrote execrable, inane takes on (i) Christchurch, New Zealand, and Trump’s mention in the manifesto — and then he wrote (ii) a (hopefully self-mocking) fictional piece about how Trump’s pro gun policies are saving lives (let’s look at Las Vegas — 54 dead)… (iii) then a baseless, hypocritical piece blaming Black Lives Matters for crime rates — during a period before it even existed as an organization, then (iv) attacks on Rep. Omar (while staying silent as the tomb on Rep. Steve King’s overt racism)… Nope, I’ll choose (v) this one… to mention, in more detail here. He wrote willfully foolish shite overnight (since he needs to decry as fictional… the all too obvious white-supremacist vibe that literally oozes… all over, and under, his site) about Stuyvesant High School admission test results disparities, in NYC, thus:

“…Why is there no such concept as Asian Supremacy, given that Asian-American incomes substantially outpace white incomes?…”

The actual NYT story (noting that at least a few African American kids have been admitted) is really about getting more kids of color admitted to Stuyvesant High School (the prestigious magnet school in NYC) — and John notes that 70 plus percent of the student body at Stuyvesant High School is presently… (broadly speaking) Asian American.

Uh-huh. So, he doesn’t consider Asian Americans to be “of color“. At all. That’s point one (he’s lost in denial — it ain’t just a river in Egypt). Point two: last I checked, whites (for the “crime” of being white) weren’t rounded up by the hundreds of thousands and put in prison camps in California, Washington, and New Mexico — as was official US policy — during WW II. Thus my graphic, above. [Kinda’ hard to argue “supremacists” existed there, Johnnie. Other than white ones, of course.]

whopperline-hinderaker-race-trope-2016 And… point three — which actually ends the discussion is… not even John believes his own bullshit anymore — so he posts (what I am sure he intends to be self-mocking) ironic pieces, as a means of atoning for his thousands of prior racist works, during the 2003 to 2019 period.

Of course, we know that John well knows that test scores are not even a remotely good proxy for intelligence and potential: they are only a smallish measure of one very specific (but quite teachable) skill: preparing canned answers which fit a world-view — one world-view that not everyone shares, even in America.

So I say… “Good on you, John!” — you’ve found a sense of self. Try to hold on to it.

[I would mention a point four — that apparently a whole raft of privileged white kids seem to have been blessed (cursed) with “snow-plow” parents willing to bribe people, and hire other people to go take these tests for them — but that would be… churlish. Even so, John’s take on (vi) the Varsity Blues indictments was… as ever — tone deaf. Is this actually how John was admitted to Dartmouth? What about his kids? Yep, we wonder.]

Onward.
