Powerliners Went From Hating O’Keefe / Veritas… To Shilling For Them. What Changed? A Democrat At 1600 Penn.

From at least 2014 through 2017, Powerline wrote highly skeptical opinion pieces on the “work” of O’Keefe, and his so-called “Project Veritas” (the truth it is… not). Scott (in 2017) called O’Keefe’s work… “an exploding cigar — he lit for himself, and stuck in his OWN mouth.

But as it became increasingly clear that Trump would lose, and lose “bigly” — by mid-2020 or so… the tone inverted.

Suddenly, because Veritas claimed to have damaging (and in each case, deeply private) information — not about the candidate and now President, but about his daughter and son, neither of whom have ever held public office, or even been considered other than very-limited purpose public figures, under NYT v. Sullivan standards… O’Keefe became a Powerline darling. Dozens of gushing articles pretending not to be opinion pieces.

Overnight, Powerline has authored two more fawning opinions masquerading as articles — about Project Veritas.

I say — let’s balance the scales. These people are all… reprobates (in our studied opinion).

In Westchester County, New York, it seems the ever-litigious Veritas is suing its former employee, a woman it accuses of unspecified improprieties. The initial offer of “severance” was a paltry $7,500. The next offer, after employees’ counsel was retained… was six months severance. She had been with the outfit since 2017 — on and off, but full time for two and a half years.

The claim by Veritas is that her husband is threatening current Veritas employees.

I have no idea whether that might be true, or not — but I do know that she worked on lots of very shady projects, as do all the staffers. Specifically, we learn here:

Mrs. Zappier’s counsel alleged that a Project Veritas employee known as “Jitsu” had attempted to have some unwanted contact with Mrs. Zappier during a holiday party in 2021, and that two other employees had “pulled him off of her….” Mrs. Zappier’s counsel also claimed that the alleged incident was captured on video….

Apparently, unlike any real news organization, employees are allowed (even encouraged!) not to identify themselves, even to fellow employees. [Let’s ask The Gray Lady… how often it has run single source stories with a by-line from a single person completely unknown to any of the offices. Hilarious.]

So — it would not surprise me in the least if this litigation maneuver ultimately reveals far more about Veritas than it does about her, or her husband.

The escalating payments, some of which have already been made, suggest that she “may know where bodies are buried” (thus my whimsical graphic above — of Keister Island tourist activities, and O’Keefe… emissions/admissions).

Perhaps even what Veritas officers and high level operatives (cough! O’Keefe?!) actually did, related to the disputed stolen diary (from a rehab hotel), and the at least converted laptop (from a bailment for hire / repair shop).

I do think O’Keefe is about to be indicted. For felonies. Related to the laptop and or diary procurement.

We shall see if she turns up on a government witness list.

Lie down with dogs… wake up with fleas feds.”

So it goes. Out.
