Here is his quote, this morning (updated graphics at right):
“…unprecedented in its absurdity….”
John refers to what he calls a “media freakout” — about Trump’s antics, after having seen his blood oxygen levels take precarious cliff-falls on Friday, and then serious breathing difficulty on Saturday, due to a full-blown COVID-19 case, as… (wait for it!) absurd. [To be clear, I want Trump fully recovered, to face his consequences — but the reality is that he has a better than 50-50 chance of relapse, as an obese 74 year old, who gets nearly no real exercise, and eats predominantly a fast food diet. That alone should sober John — but it will not.]
With the minimum number of infected in Trump’s inner orbit now at least 33 — and growing by the hour, even as Trump tries to suppress news of additional positives — and with significant parts of the Pentagon going into a modified lock-down due to exposures to the West Wing crew of Super-Spreaders… yes, it is… absurd, John.
It is absurd… that 210,000 have died, and rising, daily [while he joyrides, and endangers the Secret Service professionals for no point or purpose]. Absurd, that most of the 210,000 are dying alone, due to isolation rules — not getting to hug their loved ones one last time before they depart this Earth… while Trump recklessly endangers every person who has agreed to work for him, and some who have not explicitly agreed (career civil service personnel and wait-staff, janitors, etc.), yes… A B S U R D.
Absurd — that John agrees with Trump that we should not let COVID overtake our lives — and instead be willing to die, for a feckless blowhard’s fragile ego.
John himself is now showing all the signs of narcissism Trump exhibits. Perhaps it is… infectious, just like the virus — in the GOP.
[Funny that none of the hard-right small c christian “ministers” — who regularly tell us that god’s wrath is falling upon liberals, when ever a blue state like California experiences a forest fire — don’t see the obvious Sophocles’ wisdom (from “Antigone” — verses 623-630) here in Trump’s latest… White House plague, thus:]
“…τὸ κακὸν δοκεῖν ποτ᾽ ἐσθλὸν τῷδ᾽ ἔμμεν’ ὅτῳ φρένας θεὸς ἄγει πρὸς ἄταν….”
or, “…Evil [Trump] appears as good, in the minds of those [like Hinderaker] whom god leads to destruction….”
Words to ponder, John… Out.
