This is… insipid, even by Paul’s lax standards.
Tonight (late), he argues that our principle of equality before the law should yield — and put being “polite” to men in power, or men seeking power… ahead of equal justice under law.
He dresses it all up in Dartmouth-learned “debate club” turns of phrase… (and some Stanford law rhetorical film-flam) but at bottom, that’s all he’s got: power should control.
He also fails to mention that Hur offered what amounts to an insultingly false ungrounded medical opinion without any basis therefore, and took 340 pages to sort out eight words — on one line.
Plainly Hur’s goal was to damage to Mr. Biden’s electability, while setting a “precedent” — that Tangerine should get a pass on his theft of secret documents.
And Mirengoff is hell-bent on pushing that malign, unpatriotic agenda.
Paul complains… but he knows a jury would have laughed Hur out of court in five minutes flat.
That’s what Paul is tonight trying to hide: Trump’s case is orders of magnitude worse: wanton obstruction, and affirmative lying about what he knew he’d kept (in addition to involving thousands of times more top secret stuff), in Trump’s club / public bathroom.
Damn Paul — shut it. Just… shut it.
Out.
