Today a 28 year old whyte trans individual (it turns out, who was a former student at this private “Christian” elementary school) — after weeks of plotting, and surveillance… and tactical mapping… laid out a manifesto, and strapped on a pair of full clipped AR-15s, and a pistol for good measure… shot his way into the school during morning classes… and slaughtered three children, all 9 years old (including the pastor’s daughter) and three other adults in under 13 minutes. [The dead adults appear to include authority figures at the school, including the Head of School, a 60 year old whyte woman.]

Then (thankfully) Nashville Police shot her dead.

An unspeakable crime — by any measure.

And so, John isn’t… speaking about it (and not just because an AR-15 was used; a gun he wants every American to own). No… the real reason for his silence here may be as follows: normally he would condemn the shooter on the basis of being… trans. John would argue that it is “a mental defect or illness.” He so argues all the time. Most recently, on Aussie TV, just night, in fact.

But this time… it may well turn out that the young shooter was bullied or worse… subjected to a forced “deprogramming” — by the church affiliated school… and that he (and thus now she) harbored immense (and rational) resentment toward the school’s teachings — and teachers.

That is (to my way of conducting a rational analysis) no VALID excuse for a shooting, to be clear — but how can senile old Hinderaker walk the hard right GOP’s tightrope of condemning all matters trans… and still lauding the AR-15s and the Christian school… when it may very well turn out that these or other school authority figures… intentionally, officially tormented the shooter — when s/he too was very young and vulnerable?

He cannot.

So… expect a long-lasting and continued silence.
