My thoughts and prayers are with all those shot today — save one. I abhor and condemn political violence — all forms of it. I welcome political discourse — civil, and otherwise. See Amendment, First. In that regard, I express my sincerely charitable and statesmanlike wishes — for the speedy and complete recovery of the US House Majority Whip, and all others injured this morning — as I said at the head, save one.
And he has now died, in a hail of “returned fire“. Good riddance. Even so, I do feel a pang of empathy — for his relatives — as they try to cope with, explain (even to themselves) — and live on, given his monstrous acts, this very morning.
And I’ll say that he may be the first white home-grown radically progressive liberal terrorist, in many decades — here in the 21st Century, certainly — despite the generally lame efforts of Mr. Hinderaker — clownishly trying to conflate, about two years ago.
What I find most fascinating is that no one at PowerLine wants to talk about the ready availability of assault rifles, in the US — which made today’s terrorist significantly more effective than he otherwise would have been — to a near certainty. Mr. Roof, by contrast had to get indoors, and in very close quarters, to do his damage with a handgun. Today’s terrorist was shooting from an elevated distance. And had there not been near immediate security, and police return fire — it would have doubtlessly been far far worse.
As I say, it’s a sad, and vexing day — and a sad first for followers of Progressive Ideals. In truth, the number of white home grown terrorists — and their lethal consequences, from the alt Right side of the ledger are at least a 20-to-1 times more pervasive recent problem in America. [Citations available.] But gun legislation would make all of these cases less damaging.
In a fit of pique, though, we are treated to this at PowerLine, just the same. Whatever. All terror is to be condemned, where I come from. So it is… all condemned — here.
Let us unite on at least that much. Eh, John?
The. End.
