Of course, he means the prior AG, Bill Barr, letting government lawyers defend Tangerine’s rape / libel suits, with our taxpayers’ money.

Those are all now plainly part of felony crime sprees (as per various grand juries) — not Hunter’s open acceptance of responsibility.

He also wrote that revealing the intentional failures to disclose lavish gifts from billionaires to both Scalia and Thomas amounts to an “attack” on these Justices.

It’s only challenging to them because each chose to lie by omission.

Again, EmptyWheel has a great piece out this morning — carefully and thoroughly explaining in a very patiently rational way… why the calls by some on the left to use an independent counsel, since they believe US AG Merrick Garland is not directly moving quickly enough to get Tangerine on the January 6 lawlessness… are misguided.

That’s why calls to appoint a Special Counsel are so stupid. They treat Trump’s crimes as separate and distinct from those of the mob that he mobilized. There’s no reason, at this point, to do that (if Democrats were to lose in 2024, there might be)….”
