Tonight — in his continuing “alternative reality” (i.e., no facts) approach to deflecting 45’s unfolding Russian communications scandal at the White House — Mr. Hinderaker decides to conjure up a false (previously well-debunked) nothing burger, from 2008 — about Mr. Obama, during the waning days of his first campaign for the Oval Office.

Of course, since Mr. Hinderaker once vomited largely incoherently on his blog about it — it must be true (in his mind). So, we are told by him that today’s events are not a real scandal — but the debunked claim that Mr. Obama secretly communicated with “some Mullahs,” in Iran (not the government), and mythically undercut 43’s bargaining position, is a real scandal.

No. John. Just… no.

You simply traffic in libel, tonight.

John’s fifth third hand hearsay “source” (note: single source) heard it from a guy who heard it from a guy, who heard it from a guy who… was apparently a Gerald Ford (R) era attaché in that part of the world — before the Shah fell. We are talking 1977 or earlier — and he’s the sole source — for a rumor about 2008 BHO 44?! Seriously?!

Unimpressive.

Now Mr. Trump’s ACTUAL (if still unfolding) scandal — the Russians have confirmed they intended to aid Trump’s election. Trump said on TV he wanted them to get into HRC’s email for him. Parts of the 35 page dossier’s communications data has been confirmed through intercepts of Russian agents by our own US intel community.

In fact, we now know the Russians did hack/steal the DNC’s emails. In fact, the consensus view of the NSA, CIA and FBI continues to be that MULTIPLE Trump ’16 campaign staffers and now high ranking White House people have had ongoing pre- and post-election conversations with the Russians (some or most of whom may well turn out to be spies). [The pre-Inaugural ones would be felonies — under the Logan Act; the post Inaugural ones should be screened for emolument clause violations.]

Moreover, because we cannot see his tax returns, we cannot be certain, but the bits we’ve seen suggest various parts of 45’s business empire owe money — perhaps into the high hundreds of millions of dollars — to Russian state-affiliated banks and other Russian lenders… So, it is absolutely within our rights — as a people, to demand to know what White House favors he is trading — in return for those continuing loans and assorted foreign emoluments.

This is a scandal that may well make Watergate look like a small order of fries…

But instead of addressing the facts already known in 2017 — Mr. Hinderaker choses to libel a now-private citizen (BHO 44) about fictional events from 2008 — that in no way undermine the charges leveled against the Trump White House by responsible journalists, nation-wide.
