[U: See Next Post, Above.] Bill Otis Claims The Supremes Will Put Trump Back On The Ballot In Colorado Tomorrow. We Shall See.

Just for the record — I think he’s right there will be an opinion on the Colorado matter… but that won’t be the result. [It was not 9-0; and concurrences a-go-go.]

Funny how all these states’ rights conservatives seize up, when a state acts against a GOP edict or despot.

Funny, indeed.

States should do get to decide who is minimally qualified for (or DQ-ed from) their ballots.

Full stop.

On, to tomorrow.

[U] Hinderaker: Clueless, Bitter Old Cuss.

The senile, bitter old cuss is at it, again.

He seems hell-bent on proving he knows nothing of the history or politics of the Middle East.

He also cannot grasp the notion that Bibi possesses no right to slaughter Palestinian civilians — no matter how badly he wants to end talk of any two state solution.

In some ways, Hinderaker has become nothing more than a sad caricature of his younger self: he lacks even a veneer of rational thought.

So it goes. So… it goes.

Updated, late night Sunday: unlike any GOP VP, ever — Kamala Harris can speak with both force and kindness… empathy, when urging Hamas to agree to a cease fire. Pence, Ryan, Palin, Cheney, or Poppy Bush? None of these Veeps or nominees could communicate on both of these dimensions with the larger Palestinian World.

Hinderaker should consider that this is… indeed, a new era.

Out.

Update: It Seems No One Has Yet ID-ed This, Officially… As Ambergris. Huh.

Back in September of 2023, we mentioned that while unidentified at the time, our money was on a finding of… ambergris.

From time to time since, I’ve searched both the usual federal government sources — and the science journals, for mention of the find.

The trail seems to have gone… cold. There have been no later stories, with any “new” information — indexed in Google, either — as far as I can discern.

But I continue to believe, since all the original reporting confirmed it as likely biological in nature — that it is. . . whale vomit. Here (below) is my original September item, for reference. When will we learn — with certainty — its origin? Who knows(?):

September 2023 — so sorry to be an immediate, out of the gate… spoiler here… but me?

I’m betting it will turn out to be a concentrated, calcified form of… whale vomit. Also known as the “gold of the sea“. Highly prized for making very expensive perfumes, even to this day. But let’s wait and see — here’s the bit:

…US NOAA is currently in the throes of a five-month mission to explore the depths of the sea near Alaska.

The golden object was found amid white sponges and had a small hole or tear near its base that revealed a similarly-colored interior, NOAA said. Deploying a remote-controlled sub, the team was able to essentially suction the object up a tube in order to test it in a lab aboard the ship.

Testing revealed the orb to be biological in nature − but not much else….

The expedition commenced Aug. 23 off Kodiak Island conducting focused mapping and exploring depths of up to four miles with remotely operated vehicles. NOAA researchers aboard the Okeanos Explorer ship expect to conclude the expedition Sept. 16 about 350 miles north near Alaska’s southern port city of Seward….

Yep — I’m betting… whale vomit. Hah!

The Firms That Nixed Elon Musk’s $55 Billion In Pay, Want ~$6 Billion In Fees, In Delaware.

Certainly, $55 billion in pay is excessive at a public company.

But I’m conflicted about the outside shareholders effectively having to award $6 billion (in stock) to the lawyers — for striking it.

Here’s the latest:

The law firms are asking for just over 11% of the shares that would have otherwise gone to Musk as part of his pay package, or about 29.4M shares. Based on Tesla stock’s last closing price of $202.64, the fee amounts to $5.96B. If awarded, it would make it the biggest payday for attorneys in a corporate case.

“We recognize that the requested fee is unprecedented in terms of absolute size,” the law firms said in the filing.

Musk weighed in on the development. “The lawyers who did nothing but damage Tesla want $6 billion. Criminal,” the billionaire businessman said on X (formerly Twitter)….

The result was outstanding — given the very high risk the suit would fail.

Even so, that “feels” like too much of a windfall for legal work.

Onward.

Johnson: Purveyor Of Unpatriotic Lies Re Humanitarian Aid In Gaza…

Scott is fully aware that it’s his lying rhetoric (and Bibi’s) that brings us to this moment.

The US humanitarian aid airdrop now underway… is to prevent Gaza civilians (pinned in a kill box, by IDF) from starving to death.

There are repeated and consistent reports which reflect that about 80 of the 100 dead Gazans (in what Scott called the food riot) this week… were shot, not trampled.

That is squarely on Bibi’s karmic debt ledger.

But Johnson would claim in unpatriotic, and unctuous fashion — that Mr. Biden is aiding Hamas here.

Scott never decried our humanitarian aid in the Sudan war zones, right?

That’s all we need to know: Scott actually advocates… genocide here.

Damn.

A Human Has Been Implanted With A Musk Brain Chip — And Separately, Musk Sued Open AI, Claiming It Is “Putting Profits Before People…”

This is just a pair of life-science notes about Mr. Musk. First, it is clear from FOIA requests that his record keeping in his animal labs (pre-FDA clearance for study implants) was cited as inadequate last summer. He has since remediated those issues, and as I say… some foolish person has agreed to let his company, NeuraLink, place a computer chip inside his brain. Yikes.

Then separately, Musk announced he had sued OpenAI, saying that that company failed to remain true to the mission of benefiting humanity, and is dangerously aiming to maximize short term profits. [Is anyone surprised by either of these stories?]

Here’s the bit about the 483s, via an exclusive at Reuters:

…The FDA has not issued its designation indicating the severity of problems found in the inspection, according to the agency’s database. While the problems identified are serious, they do not appear to be significant enough to justify the FDA’s worst inspection designation, which would prompt action, the experts said.

Carly Pflaum, an FDA spokesperson, said Neuralink “provided sufficient information to support the approval” of its human trial application. The agency routinely conducts such inspections, Pflaum said, after human trial approval and before commercial approval to “assure data integrity and reliability” and compliance with other FDA regulations.

“The FDA will continue to monitor the safety of those enrolled in the study for Neuralink’s implant device through required, regular reports,” Pflaum said….

Of the two, it seems to me that Open AI poses the larger long term threat. I hate to seem a Luddite here, but I think we have no idea what will come of that initiative, if left solely in the hands of young MBAs looking to “monetize” it. Onward, nonetheless… smile.

And From Our Friends At ESA, The Ariane 6 Rocket Assembly Has Arrived — At The French Guiana Spaceport!

The embedded video below is excellent; do watch.

Humanity’s push — into space — sleeps for no one. So onward, we venture — as a unified planet.

…The largest components for the first flight model of Europe’s new rocket Ariane 6 arrived at the port of Pariacabo in Kourou, French Guiana on 21 February 2024 via the novel ship, Canopée (canopy in French)….

The Ariane 6 stages and components are all manufactured across Europe. On this trip, Canopée brought the central core for Ariane 6’s first flight. The main engine and the main stage were integrated in Les Mureaux, France, while the upper stage and insulation for the rocket’s exterior were built up in Bremen, Germany.

The various Ariane 6 components are then offloaded and transported by road to the new Ariane 6 launch vehicle assembly building just a few kilometres away. Here, the launcher stages are unpacked and installed on the assembly line for integration, and finally, liftoff….

Be excellent to one another — and along those lines, we in the US will supply humanitarian aid, to women, children and all civilians in Gaza. We will not stand by while Bibi chokes off aid, to true innocents.

And… That’s Likely “End of Mission” For Odysseus, At The Lunar South Pole, As Well…

As we earlier reported — it was only going to have sunlight, and thus battery power… through this morning.

And as expected, it has stopped transmitting data.

There is a small chance that when [later next month] the Sun next hits those of its solar arrays not shadowed by lying on its side, it might get enough of a charge to “phone home“, once again. We will be listening — and so, we shall see.

But all in all a fine success — considering what the team was up against, as it landed. Now you know.
