US Will Provide An Added $7 Million In Cash Aid To Rwanda — For Marburg Abatement / Relief Efforts…

This is a welcome sign. The US CDC is working hand-in-hand, both by mitigating travel born risks to a few select airports (Chicago, NY and LA), for screenings here state-side — and by ramping up the cash flowing into Rwanda — as it moves closer to the goal of arresting this Fall 2024 Marburg outbreak.

When we reach two 21 day periods with no new cases, we will be at goal. Until then, people need to be fed, and cared for — and well trained public health professionals are needed, on the ground — as we close this out. The added $7 million will help do just that:

…The United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), will provide an additional USD $7 million toward Rwanda’s response to the Marburg Viral Disease (MVD) outbreak. In partnership with the Rwandan Ministry of Health, this funding will be used to help end the MVD outbreak. The funds will address the remaining needs in Rwanda’s national MVD response that include case management, contact tracing, and infection prevention and control. . . .

Since the start of the outbreak, the United States has now committed over USD $8.35 million in emergency funding, donated nearly 2,000 testing kits, delivered essential medical supplies to frontline medical workers, and brought teams of U.S. medical experts to assist with disease detection and surveillance. Under the excellent leadership of the Ministry of Health, Rwanda has rapidly implemented effective measures to safeguard the health of its citizens.

This new funding will further strengthen Rwanda’s disease preparedness and response and advance the global health security agenda….

Now you know — looking forward to Bey’s-star-power in Houston tonight, to amp up youthful voters nationwide! Onward!

Ten Years Ago This Week, NYC Health + Hospitals | Bellevue Treated Dr. Craig Spencer For Ebola — He Is Fully-Recovered And Teaches At Brown University, Now…

I have a pretty clear memory of this week, now a decade ago. We posted this, on it all. We were in the teeth of an ebola outbreak that saw tens of thousands of deaths, in West Africa. So it is wonderful that Bellvue is celebrating at least one small victory, here. Kudos!

Here is the run-down on that story, overnight:

…NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue today hosted an emotional reunion with Dr. Craig Spencer and the medical team who cared for him when he was hospitalized with Ebola 10 years ago this month, remembering the tense time during Spencer’s 19-day hospitalization and discussing ongoing preparedness and response strategies as special pathogens continue to emerge around the world.

At the event, A Decade of Resilience: Honoring the Ten-Year Anniversary of Ebola Treatment in New York City, special pathogens experts from New York and Washington, DC discussed lessons learned and the evolution of special pathogens training and preparedness in the decade since the Ebola outbreak was a national and international emergency.

Dr. Spencer recovered and today he is an Associate Professor of Public Health and Emergency Medicine at Brown University and an advocate for equitable patient care. “A decade ago, at one of the most difficult moments of my life, I was lucky to land at Bellevue,” said Dr. Spencer. “A team of remarkably dedicated professionals took care of me, treated me like family, and helped carry me through 19 days in isolation. They put their own safety on the line every day to bring me food, laugh with me, and make me feel less alone. Only days prior, I had returned from the frontlines of the Ebola outbreak in Guinea, where I had tried to do the same for the patients I had taken care of. I was grateful that all these providers at Bellevue were there for me. And almost every day since, I’ve wished similar resources existed for the people I took care of in West Africa….”

Indeed. Be the change you wish to see — in the world. Onward, and speaking of righting wrongs — I’m out, later this morning — to our early voting, at city hall, here. Look for the Bey-hive, in Houston, tonight! Grin!

Tonight, Hinderaker Thinks Gen. Kelly’s Takedown Of Tangerine… Helps Tangerine. Weird.

[Until WordPress figures itself out, legacy Whopperlinelie material will begin to appear here — since Musk is now a full on Trump surrogate.]

Tonight, John thinks being branded a fascist — or “Hilterian…” is a badge of honor — for Tangerine.

I do not.

I think Gen. Kelly is right. And I believe Trump believed what he said today — that Tangerine picked Kelly because he was “tough and… dumb”.

But it turns out that Gen. Kelly is tough — and smart.

This Tangerine cannot handle.

Anyhoo, Hinderaker’s a… putz.

That’s my point.

Out.

Cheers!

The NY Court-Appointed Monitor Is Functioning As Intended. It Has Disclosed 25 NEW Entities That TrumpWorld Is Using To Hawk Hats, Tee-Shirts, Shoes, Wine And… NFTs And Crypto Platforms… YIKES (Just Since August 2024)!

I am very impressed by Retired USDC Judge Barbara Jones (now serving as a court-appointed financial monitor over TrumpWorld) — nothing gets past her watchful eye. She is overseeing the post-judgment fraud empire Tangerine runs mostly out of Florida and NY, for new, or ongoing. . . violations of law.

For context, remember that the hard right lost their collective tiny minds, when BHO 44 (wait for it!) wore a tan suit to a Rose Garden event (“Oy, the ‘umanities!“). A court order now forbids Trump from ever running a charity in NY again, due to pervasive frauds.

Can anyone imagine what we’d hear, if less than two weeks from election day, we learned that Kamala Harris was hawking gold tennis shoes, autographed bibles and various crypto scams run by her step-children, just turned 18 — no less?! [all through 25 new entities, unmonitored by any court?!]. There would be broken internet tubes, for certain. As to Tangerine… it is just… a regular Thursday afternoon.

Nothing to see here. He’s just lining his pockets with numerous grifts, before he’s run off the stage of the GOP.

[Many will recall that this New Coin / Token effort is being led by Barron (at age 18, a college freshman!), and his brothers (i.e., no crypto-experience)… along with a former internet ladies’ man / consultant. And at least a rumor that Martin Shkreli, a former felon, is also guiding the tech side of it.]

“But wait! There’s more!”… Elon Musk has received a formal written warning (along with lots of other Tangerine affiliated groups) from the non-political / career DoJ Election Fraud AUSAs offices, that his “Million Dollar A Day” raffle for voter registration disclosures… (as we said!) violates a felony statute — to wit, 52 USC § 10307(c).

But here is the mini-catalog of NEW entities Trump has created to suck money out of his base, and the RNC (as filed in NY State Court):

…The Trump Organization informed the Monitor that [since the last report at August 2024], contingent upon the execution of certain agreements, it intended to create 25 new entities for the purpose of either licensing products or merchandise and hotel licensing deals. For these contemplated transactions, there have been no financial disclosures to third parties…. One entity was dissolved during this reporting period….

In September 2024, an existing Trump Organization entity was renamed and subsequently entered into a Services Agreement related to the cryptocurrency token World Liberty Financial (“$WLFI.”). No financial disclosures or financial representations were provided by the Trump Organization to World Liberty Financial, its representatives, or lenders in connection with this transaction. The Trump Organization has agreed to provide the Monitor all monthly account statements associated with this $WLFI token….

And that’s on top of the NASDAQ trading in the DJT media public company run by Devin Nunes (with quarterly revenue of under $2 million!) — trying to make a muski-business of Truth Social — to compete with X-itter. Trump personally owns about 67% of the stock in that ’34 Act company. For now, at least. He will sell. His lockup expired last month. From a high of over $80, it is now at… [checks notes] $30 — after dipping for almost a month to below $15.

It must be said… this is an ongoing criminal enterprise. Nothing more. Out.

Billingsley Lies. He Suggests That Tangerine DID NOT Create The Birtherism Lies, In Full…

This is pathetic. Lloyd overnight attempts to blame the lying BS about Mr. Obama’s origin… on Democratic operatives.

We all know that for a decade straight it was Donald Trump making these libelous claims — and now he’s using a derivative, about Kamala Harris’s citizenship status. Damn you, Lloyd — you speak (and type!)… with a forked tongue.

We all know that Mr. Obama, when CoC, showed a short clip from the end of Disney’s “The Lion King” to mock Trump, while he sat fuming at the press club dinner.

We all know that BHO 44 was one-thousand times a better statesman and President than Tangerine, or Bush 43 before him.

We all also know, to the raucous, approving roars of the 1,000 or so at the black tie dinner, Mr. Obama explained (in front of Trump, above!) that the Kenyan authorities had found video tape of his “baptism” — and that it ought to finally vindicate Mr. Trump’s fever dreams.

In sum — he didn’t take any of the preposterous Trump BS seriously. And we do not take his seriously, about Kamala’s heritage.

Yup. Do take a seat you lying sack, Billingspuss. We don’t take… you seriously, either.

Out.

No, Paul — But It Is… HILARIOUS, That Tangerine Calls ANYONE “Stupid”. Et tu, Brutus?!

Overnight, Mirengoff wastes about ten paragraphs, burping nonsense, to supposedly defend the Tangerine moron’s right to call his opponents “stupid“.

Y A W N.

Sure, he has that right — and “stupid” by itself (in a debate in an academic vacuum) may not be racist, or sexist. But Paul entirely neglects to mention Tangerine’s… “context“. In front of the NABJ in Chicago, he spoke for five minutes about how he “can’t tell” if she is Black or Asian Indian.

He has called her “Cacklin’ Kamala” (a witch), and “re-truthed” memes on his platform that mis-spell her name, in order to refer to her… by her genitals.

He’s sent out riffs on who (he falsely claims) she was a Jezebel with.

So, yeh — Paul, that one word adjective, standing alone — may not be racist. But all his others, in context, make it clear that for him, this is a dog-whistle to [purported] Whyte supremacists… that she’s a mud person, and a loose-womyn, to boot.

Most of all, though, I write to laugh that Paul thinks Tangerine is not — by a wide margin — the dumbest preznit we’ve ever seen. He can barely read — and he thought that Mississippi was Alabama on a map he used to explain… hurricanes.

Damn, Paul. He thinks the fictional cannibal Hanibal Lector is… his “good friend”.

You should sit this one out.

Having Previously Won US Approvals, Pembrolizumab Has Now Cleared The EU, For Two Kinds Of Advanced Gynecological Cancers… [Immaterial News]

This is good news, but quite a few patients were already enrolled in the studies that won the earlier FDA approvals, so it will mean only marginal growth in revenue, for Merck — but still very good stuff.

Most of all for women whose gynecological cancers have progressed, this offers some hope. Here is the Merck press release:

…[T]he European Commission has approved two new indications for KEYTRUDA® (pembrolizumab), Merck’s anti-PD-1 therapy, in gynecologic cancers. The first approval is for KEYTRUDA, in combination with carboplatin and paclitaxel, for the first-line treatment of primary advanced or recurrent endometrial carcinoma in adults who are candidates for systemic therapy. The second approval is for KEYTRUDA, in combination with chemoradiotherapy (CRT), for the treatment of FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) 2014 Stage III-IVA locally advanced cervical cancer in adults who have not received prior definitive therapy. With these decisions, KEYTRUDA is now approved for 30 indications in the EU, including five in gynecologic cancers – three in endometrial cancer and two in cervical cancer.

“These KEYTRUDA-based regimens have the potential to change the treatment paradigm for people with endometrial and cervical cancer, two of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among women in Europe,” said Dr. Gursel Aktan, vice president, global clinical development, Merck Research Laboratories. “These approvals underscore the continued expansion of the use of KEYTRUDA in diverse patient populations and treatment settings with utility of KEYTRUDA ranging from earlier lines of therapy to treating advanced disease….”

In January 2024, KEYTRUDA in combination with CRT was approved in the U.S. for the treatment of patients with FIGO 2014 Stage III-IVA cervical cancer based on PFS results from the KEYNOTE-A18 trial. The KEYTRUDA regimen reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 41% (HR=0.59 [95% CI, 0.43-0.82]) versus concurrent CRT alone for these patients….

Both of these populations for treatment cleared the US FDA earlier in the year. Now you know. Onward, smiling — voting early, tomorrow. Go Buffs!

Hinderaker: Sans… Human Bioscience. And… Humanity. Again

Hinderaker thinks it is “thousands”?!

In the State of Florida… it was five people, in a decade.

That’s in ten years. And…

Even fewer — in Texas, Tennessee and Missouri.

So… John’s a lying ass. Gender dysphoria is a real but rare medical condition. John and his fellow Brown-shirters, though, want to dictate what doctors can and cannot do — in consultation (in privacy) — with their patients. And their parents.

How unsurprising.

Again.

Out.

Well… this is just… precious! McD’s, Seriously [Again!] Scott?!

Between Musk’s felonies, and the Powerline boys… obsession with a summer fry-cook job at McD’s, some 45 to fifty years ago… we just have to laugh.

This is what desperation looks like folks.

Buying voter registration lists, via a million dollar a day raffle, and… writing about her summer jobs, as a high schooler. My recollection is that Tangerine was — in his high school years — sent off to a reform/military academy, by Fred Trump… because he refused to act like a human being.

He never held a wage paying job in his life. He has no idea what groceries cost — nor what gas costs.

In sum, he has never lived paycheck to paycheck… like almost all Americans have, at one time or another. Never held a job where he had to serve any [even unreasonable] customer, on pain of losing his meager paycheck.

But this is what Johnson, Musk, and / or… Trump (preposterously) think will put him/them over the top, with undecideds?

Cool story, bros… cool story.

H I L A R I O U S!

Out.

Roche To Greatly Increase Output Of Mpox PCR [Diagnostic] Test Kits, For Africa, And EU…

At the opening of this month, we mentioned that Abbott had cleared FDA emergency authorizations to deliver its kit into Africa, to track the spread of Mpox. Now Barron’s reports that Roche will also ramp up production of its own Mpox PCR test kits.

This is good news, but with over 42,000 cases — it needs to be done, like yesterday.

. . .Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche said Wednesday that it was increasing its capacity to produce diagnostic tests to detect mpox, amid a flare-up of the potentially deadly virus.

“We’ve ramped up our production in order to meet potential demand,” Roche chief Thomas Schinecker told reporters as he presented the company’s third quarter sales results.

Fresh outbreaks of the viral disease — some involving a new variant — have hit a range of countries in Africa in recent months, with more than 1,100 mpox deaths recorded on the continent so far this year, according to the African Union’s health agency.

The disease has also spread further afield, with Germany on Tuesday recording a first infection with the new mpox variant clade 1b, while single cases have also been detected in Sweden and Thailand.

“It seems like there are more cases in Europe,” Schinecker said.

“Maybe they are not all in the media yet, but there are already more mpox cases.”

Roche first developed its PCR test to detect mpox during the 2022 outbreak.

Schinecker, who previously headed Roche’s diagnostics unit, did not disclose Wednesday how many tests the company was currently making.

But we could manage probably a 10-times higher demand,” he insisted.

Roche, the world’s largest maker of cancer drugs and one of the biggest makers of diagnostic tests, on Wednesday posted better-than-expected sales for the first nine months of the year, up two percent at nearly 45 billion Swiss francs ($52 billion)….

Now you know — onward, resolutely… onward.
