Today, the Cleveland MLB franchise rebranded itself as the Guardians.

That is a vast improvement over the antiquated, racist, cartoonish logo (supposedly a generic indigenous American), they previously used.

. . .The Indians announced in a video package on Twitter this morning that their new franchise name will be the Cleveland Guardians. It was reported last night that a decision had been reached and an announcement could be forthcoming. The name change will formally go into effect after the 2021 season. . . .

But to this day, the NFL Washington team uses just the “Washington Football Team” — likely to give white fans the license to still call that one by the deplorable “Redskin” moniker. That is no progress at all — as it gives people permission to be. . . awful. Be. . . better than this, people. Grin.
