Again tonight, Hinderaker lies about climate science.
This time, his lie is one of omission. He shows a chart with what appears to be a generally declining US trend in severe weather events (in frequency, only) from the mid-20th Century to 2020.
But the Hinderaker lie becomes immediately apparent, in a quick review of all actual government issued data sets: the frequency has indeed declined, but the impact of each event is far beyond what it was even 40 years ago.
This is — in part — due to people building homes in flood plains, or in other dubious locations. But only… in part.
The inflation adjusted numbers clearly show a trend toward greater financial impacts from severe weather, when droughts are included, for the last century.
Not surprisingly, none of John’s data tracks droughts, longitudinally.
Because his point would be refuted, completely.
And… definitively.
What a tool.
Out.
