[U] So — We Won’t Have Too Wait Long To See Whether Trump OPPOSES The Release Of The Mar-A-Lago Warrant, Now.

Time to put up, or shut up, Kumquat.

Tangerine was just ordered to tell the DoJ/FBI whether he will try to block release of the warrant and Attachments A and B. While Tom Fitton’s filing is now completely irrelevant, Trump has irretrievably lost any high ground here, no matter which way he goes. Here’s the full text on the schedule, just entered in Miami.

[In a related note, I have great respect for the USDC Magistrate Judge in Miami handling this — I have seen him in action, and under fire — in other high profile cases, but… I am not going to name him. There are too many MAGA nuts out there. And to be clear, they are ultimately Trump’s responsibility, if anything steps off.] Here it is:

…PAPERLESS ORDER taking under advisement 18 Motion as to Sealed Search Warrant

The United States shall immediately serve a copy of its Motion on counsel for former President Trump. On or before 3:00 p.m. Eastern time on August 12, 2022, the United States shall file a certificate of conferral advising whether former President Trump opposes the Government’s motion to unseal….

Signed by Magistrate Judge [REDACTED] (Entered: 08/11/2022)….

These are, indeed… interesting times. [Updated @ 10 PM CDT: And as ever, Hinderaker has drawn all the wrong inferences, from the entire strand of events.

It now turns out (per WaPo reporting) that the boxes of documents seized include nuclear weapons classified material. Pretty darn sure Bill Clinton did not have any of that category in his sock drawer (if the legends are to be credited as truthful). But that means that, in at least one small respect, John was right: any attempt to sell those, or give any foreign national access to them (perhaps as seen on the video feeds already recovered)… would be the quintessential “something big” up Merrick Garland’s sleeve. Cheers.]
